This sec is not your daddy\'s sec.....

Does anyone else feel the way i do? I was just thinking about today's sec games..I mean when was the last time the uga/lsu game the top sec game??..Last Sunday when told that (After the Skins game)...Steve Spurrier joked about it...In all reality when Spurrier left for the NFL it hurt the sec...Like him or hate him..No one can argue he and UF dominated the sec from 1990-2000..

The sec has dropped significantly in the last 3 to 4 years. When uga is considered the top team..you know it has dropped...Much of the sec today is hype and living in the past...They rarely ever have a team in the national title game as oppossed to the Big East/Acc Who annually have a representitive in the MNC game.. Now im not talking about the tailgating and stadium capacity debate that takes on a life of itself..Im just saying as far as the true football product that is on the field...I would have to say the NEW ACC and Big Twelve will be the 2 top conferences and will have the MOST teams in the top 25..Look at this years pre season poll and as of today...Any thoughts???

Couldn't agree more with ya. Some of the SEC athletic prgrams have brought a lot of problems and shame on themselves, i.e., recruiting violations, player pay-offs, booster club micromanagement, etc. Alabama and Auburn are classic SEC cases. Look at the recent US NEWS school rankings... most of the SEC schools are still classified as Tier 2 schools from an academic perspective. Would rather be a Tech or Stanford-like school any day of the week.

Im hearing Beau Bock (What a joke he is) on tv46 right now on their dog preview..I didnt know he worked for tv46?? This is what is so rotten about our Atlanta Media..their ALL sec/uga homers...channel46 does a uga pregame show before every uga game..why cant wsb channel2 do one before our games?? the local media will always be pro sec/uga..that is why we should ALWAYS root for ACC teams....Lets stick it to em...

The SEC has been down the past two or three years. But, they are still as good or better than the ACC. FSU is the only proven strong team this year. NC State may be powerful. Maryland is average right now but might pick it up. I've got no clue if UVA is a hill of beans without Shaub.

Someone said that the SEC won't have anyone in the national title game. Well, right now they have UGA, UT, LSU and Arkansas undeafeted and looking very good. The ACC has FSU. The "new ACC" has FSU, Va. Tech and Miami. (Oh, and Miami nearly got beat by that "second tier" UF team).

You would think that the ACC is a proven power conference from the tone of the posts. We are bringing in two national powers soon. But, it is possible that they might do what FSU did, expose the conference as weak. FSU is the only consistant winner we have. What happens to NC State with no Rivers? Is UVA a new power or did we overestimate them? Will UM turn it around? The ACC is a question mark conference this year. Will the new ACC be a three team race between Va. Tech, Miami and FSU?

Oh, and why does 46 have a pre-game show for UGA? Maybe, its because CBS has the SEC tv contract and the UGA upcoming. It might also be because their are tons of UGA fans in this state.

-Georgia = Medium
-Auburn = Medium to Strong under Shug Jordan
-Tennessee = Strong
-Alabama = Strong
-Ole Miss = Strong under Johnny Vaught
-Mississippi State -= Medium & sometimes weak.
-LSU = Strong to Medium. Extremely strong on any Saturday night in Baton Rouge.
-Vanderbilt = Strong to Medium
-Florida = Medium
-Kentucky = Weak to Medium. Strong when Bear Bryant was coach there.

SEC of Today

-Georgia = Strong
-Auburn = Medium to Strong

It all depends on how you define strong...I dont know if its so much uga being strong or that UT and UF has fallen back quit a bit..Both Uf and UT lost 4 games last year i believe...In any event i still say from top to bottom the NEW ACC is stronger...Again this year like so many years in recent history the sec will have NO team in the MNC game and the NEW ACC will...Either Miami,FSU,or VT...I think Herbstreit picked em but i also have VT as my darkhorse..They have Miami at home..VT looked awfully good this past Thursday night...I still will wait a few more weeks to classify uga,ut, or uf as strong....I think uf will come out of that pack.They gave another very young team in Miami a good game..They are very young but i think they do...
