Who are you most excited about / interested to see in the fall? I think for me it's Antonneous. We could've used some strength and size on the edge last year. He's got 1 season to really bring it and show everyone what he can do.

On offense- I'd go with Marquez Ezzard. We've got some good talent at WR, but he can be a difference-maker.

    Go Jackets!!

I think I'm most excited to see what our new quarterbacks can do. And Gibbs.

Looking forward to seeing Grahm's progression. Also, Gibbs in action and our transfers that had to sit out.

Look forward to the defense's 2nd year in the same system. We have some talented pieces and once they get comfortable we will stop some people.

I want to see if the offensive play calling improves. Last year was a öööö show that didn’t match our personnel at all. Most of the comments, that weren’t specifically player directed, matched complaints from Temple fans the past two years (but specifically year 1). I am curious to see if Pat was trying different looks and calls to see what our guys could do, if the calls were to show recruits what we want to be, or if that was just his playcalling style.

I am inclined to think he was trying to get some clips together to sell recruits. Both GT and Temple were coming from run heavy offenses that weren’t accustomed to negative plays, so I think that may be part of the similarity of complaints.

I’m not sure what CGC envisions for his preferred offense. It certainly isn’t a Meyer/Mullen shotgun option. It isn’t I formation. And it doesn’t look to be a hurry up.

I was very hard on our OC last year but I have backed off a little bit after digesting the true magnitude of our OL issues. So, I too, will be watching the playcalling to see what it looks like this year. Not sure if we are out of the woods yet w/r to OL issues but I think we at least have a serviceable unit.

I'm not so much a playcalling guru but one thing I can do is pick up on the rhythm of an offense. When Fridge/CPJ had a solid 11 on offense, you could just feel the playcalling rhythm - the panic and nausea of the other team's defense was palpable. Last year, it felt more like the sound of glass breaking.

So let's see how it goes this year. I don't expect juggernaut status by a long shot but some improvement would be nice.

Nothing was working last season. He was throwing öööö at the wall to see what would stick.

OL last year? Just too many injuries combined with lack of depth.

What i really hate about losing spring practice (and i know we aren't alone) is the loss of on field & scrimmage experience for QBs.

Sure, play calling was our problem.

After we shock the world against Clemson, I want to see if we do the typical GT trip up the next ACC game.

Against UVa, Pitt, Citadel, USF and Temple it was a factor.

Against Miami and Clemson it was a positive. Clemson was a loss no matter what.

Duke, UNC, UGa, VT and NCSt it was a wash.

Playcalling to our talent wins us probably 2 more games last year. Maybe 3 and a bowl loss. Long term it probably sets us back a year or two, regardless of what Collins ultimately delivers.

I agree. I think the D will get it to a level we need / expect faster than the O given CGC's background, some of the pieces we had in place, some transfers, etc. I liked what Thacker was trying to do- innovative stuff to get players on the field and create some disruption. Injuries really hurt us there too (Charlie Thomas, Jahaziel, et al). Our secondary is strong...thinking some key pieces on the d-line will help our LBs.

It all starts up front. We didn't begin with a lot for sure- then the injuries just layered on top to really hinder what we could do. With some of the transfers coming in and getting some key folks back from injuries- we should be in a better spot. We started the season extremely small and weak if the stats are actually true (height / weight, 225 reps, etc)-- that's disastrous. It could help explain our 3-O declines to me as well in CPJ's final seasons?-- we were really outmatched.

Ryan Johnson and Devin Cochran know what is needed and hopefully how to execute being a starter for a few years. They could be a huge lift- along with getting Cooper back. Say we get that O-line in a decent place, then it's what the QBs can do. We may be a bit run heavy given o-line and RB talent there. Play action should work better to open up some passing. Ahmarean did serious damage as a freshman-- who knows, with these pieces in place there's a lot more pressure on opposing defenses.
