This team no less motivated than it was

last year IMHO. Mo seems lacking the same in both years so far. Blame this as much on O'L as CB. Showed pride in Seattle. Since vandy game (where we could have scored 60) biggest difference is minus TH & GG. Team should not be that fragile. Do not really have the answer but someone just needs to step up and make a play. Seems like pride would kick in sometime. I think part of anger is because of high expectations unmet from last year combined with lack of motivation this year. Guess the responsiblity goes to the top man - CLOUGH!!!!!!

So now Coach Gailey doesn't care? Doesn't want to win? I don't think that's quite right either.

As I stated in an earlier post, college players who are play uninspired do so because of the coaches. Last year, the team looked unmotivated because it could sense something amiss in the coaching staff. Well, most of them were working on packing themselves off to ND around October. The players can sense, if not flat out know these things. If Tech is unmotivated on Saturday, something is going within this team we just don't know about.

So we are going to rule out the fact that players like to compete? That they have a desire not to be shown up by the guy they are blocking/tackling? That they want to bust the other guys rear end to keep the acceptance of his teammates? That they want to win regardless of the hormonal problems with the coaching staff?

Yup, the fault lies entirely with the coaches.

Just another apologist for the current coaching regime, whose glass is always 3/4 full, trying to get added to CG's Xmas list.

Wrecked, I don't totally agree. The coaching staff does have an effect on players, whether they play with a lot of emotion, etc. O'Leary never really wanted his teams to get too high and if you look at his better teams they weren't particularly rah-rah types. They played with intensity but not necessarily a lot of pure emotion IMO. Ross's teams were a lot like that as well.

On the other hand, if what you are talking about is the joy of playing, having fun, flying around and hitting people, then yes all teams need that. Coaches can help instill it IMO but players have to have that inside them. Maybe what I'm saying is that a coach can't give that to a team or to players, but they can mold it, or destroy it.

I guess what I meant to say is, if the coach don't care, it is tough for the players to care and play hard. The onus is on the players to always play hard. You stated it well in your last paragraph.
