Last week was a pretty rough week of foobaw. Let's put it behind us and enjoy some of the finely developing drama in the college football world. Several marquee matchups will be played this week, and several teams will also be forced to play who would probably rather not. We've got a 3 (maybe 2) day schedule, with a game each on Thursday(?) and Friday, before literally everything is happening at once around 3:30 on Saturday. And because ESPN and friends will be attempting to communicate such a tremendous amount of information to us in such a short span of time, I'm going to get you ready for the action right here.
This week in foobaw, a picture is worth a thousand words, so a GIF has got to be like a billion. It's every game, described completely from start to finish, in GIF format!
Thursday, September 13
7:30 PM - Boston College at Wake Forest. This game will probably not be played.
Friday, September 14
7:00 PM - Georgia State at Memphis. A team that couldn't beat NC State plays a team that couldn't beat Navy. Memphis favored by a gajillion. It's the only thing on.
Saturday, September 15
12:00 PM - Oklahoma at Iowa State. Iowa State always gets mad what-ifs as the upset pick. They'll need them all against Oklahoma.
12:00 PM - UCF at North Carolina. Thank goodness for North Carolina, we'll always have someone to laugh at.
12:00 PM - Hawai'i at Army. Hawaii is now 3 games in a row over 40 points. They are a little flimsy on defense, but seem to be able to find a TD whenever it's needed. Army figures to be a favorite in this one, but it's going to need to find a way to deal with some serious firepower.
12:00 PM - Florida State at Syracuse. Gave up 500+ yards to Samford? Hold my beer.
12:20 PM - East Carolina at Virginia Tech. ECU has already notched one Coastal division win after dropping an FCS game. They are basically an honorary ACC member, now.
12:30 PM - Georgia Tech at Pittsburgh.
2:30 PM - Vanderbilt at Notre Dame. Notre Dame just finished struggling mightily with something called Ball State. Vanderbilt just finished looking a bit like a real team against Nevada. The Irish should be heavy favorites, but...
3:30 PM - LSU at Auburn. You can't get to the SEC championship unless you win this game. Haha, who am i kidding, Alabama is in your division.
3:30 PM - West Virginia at NC State. Might as well be the first game of the season for either of these teams. West Virginia is highly ranked and slightly favored.
3:30 PM - Boise State at Oklahoma State. Oklahoma State is only slightly favored in this game despite the fact that one's mascot is some kind of cowboy and the others is a horse. That don't make no sense to me. (In case you missed it, people are impressed by what Boise did to UConn...)
3:30 PM - Duke at Baylor. What is Duke's obsession with playing the Duke of every conference?
4:00 PM - Colorado State at Florida. Mullen already dropped a priceless artifact of Florida fandom last week, as he struggled to figure out how exactly he needed to pull the cord on his offense to get it started. Was it not primed? Did he have the choke in right right position? Did he put the gas in the right thing? Is it an oil/gas thing and not just a gas thing? Does he have time to take it back to The Home Depot before he has to use it against Colorado State?
4:15 PM - Houston at Texas Tech. In case you missed it, Houston just beat Arizona like they were a division 2 school. Texas Tech is undoubtedly better than Arizona, but uh...
7:00 PM - Alabama at Ole Miss. Something seems crazy wrong with the Ole Miss defense, allowing 629 yards and 41 points to something called SIU. This may just be part of Joe Moorhead's master troll game, though, because that's setting the bar awfully high for Alabama fans. You'd have to think they are expecting at least twice that.
8:00 PM - Ohio State vs TCU. Remember that one time TCU got snubbed from the playoff so Ohio State could get in, and it's truly questionable who the better team was? TCU remembers.
8:00 PM - USC at Texas. Boy USC didn't look good against Stanford. Or UNLV. Could Texas finally be back, folks?
10:00 PM - Washington at Utah. This doesn't look like it'll be all that competitive on paper, but Utah has showed up big for these games before. Just one candidate for the night cap.
10:30 PM - Fresno State at UCLA. Hate to break it to UCLA, but Fresno is favored here. I can't exactly say that's wrong.
