1- Losing to USF was tough. We did not seem improved over last year. Defense couldn't stop long drive to save game. Offense couldn't finish drive to save game. Specialty teams were historically dismal.

2- We didn't get anything from playing Alcorn State. It gave us a false sense of progress on defense. It never challenged offense. Specialty teams never got tested. It didn't show what our weaknesses were that we needed to work on. Attendance was so bad that we sent out a message on TV that we are not a major football school. It kept us from knowing enough about our team to improve from week one to week two.

3- Losing to USF probably ended any chance we could make the BCS playoffs. But, if we beat Clemson twice, beat UGA, won the ACC, & finished 12-1, who knows? Realistically, though, the season starts against Pitt. If we win 7 of 8 ACC games (and maybe 6 of 8) we'll probably win our division, play in the ACCCG, have a good chance at he Orange Bowl, & have a great season.

4- Coach Johnson will very likely be our coach for the rest of the season, at least. So, how does it help our program, recruiting, etc to bash him no matter how disappointed we are?

They say you make the most progress btw week one & two. But, I think that's only true, if you get a look at your weaknesses in wk one. Obviously, Alcorn State was too weak a team to show us the weakness we needed to work on, esp on defense & special teams. So, really, we should make out most progress btw USF & Pitt.

This is what you meant, eh.

Here’s a penny, and now my two cents.

Almost won a game that had 2 run backs, 2 of the D best players ejected, lost turnover margin by 2, lost the starting QB and start B.B., on the road, in 100 degree index, with a brand new defense, and the game game down to a penalty on holding that was a lot less worse than I saw all game.

The O can score. The loss of KB will hurt as he was a strong runner and blocker. PJ will learn quick. Howard is working on his blocking.

The defense can be scored against. At least I can see what the defense is trying to do and if the guys do their assignments it will get better.

Special teams needs experience like the O and the D. You would expect bad things if half your O or D had no experience. I hope CPJ stops it from being a place to play if you are not playing O and D. Rotate 1 or 2 new people in for experience. Hopefully the kicking game will continue to improve.

I'm afraid we do not have the personnel on D to have s good season and I won't even talk about KO coverage. The 2014 and 2016 defenses were not that good either but I think the talent level has really dropped over the last 2 years. We can change D coord all we want but until GT makes changes so D-1 athletes will come here then it is a waste of time. I would be willing to bet that App St had better athletes on D last year.

I think we have the talent. I’m just not sure we have the coaching just judging by their inability to display sound fundamental football technique.

I still have some Bourbon, so all is well...

Exactly. This is my attitude toward GT football as a whole. öööö it, go 0-12. The most enjoyable parts to me are the boos, food, and having an excuse to hang out with my friends. The results of the games are becoming more irrelevant to me as I get older.

My thoughts are that we go ....6-6. Make it to who gives a F$$$ Detroit Bowl......2-2 OOC (Win over FCS & BowlinG green with Loss to USF & Ugag)......4-4 ACC ( Wins over Pitt, UNC, UVA, Louisville with Losses to Duke, VT, Miami, Clemson)...If somehow we can start playing better than we have we might be able to go 5-3 and finish 7-5. (Maybe we get the Indy Bowl at 7-5)...but we could also lose to Pitt and go 3-5 inACC play... Either way I am super disappointed

8-4 is possible.

I'm going to wait until the games are played to get disappointed.

This is exactly how I see it playing out. I think we beat the bad teams, lose to the good ones. We are the definition of mediocrity.
