...were not that impressive, but was consistent with what I heard about their receiver issues. Plus...they did not need to throw as they ran for 379 yds.

This is from the Adrian newspaper...

"The lone disappointment for Jacobs (Adrian head coach) and his staff was the team's pass protection and dropped passes. Threet, who committed to Georgia Tech over the summer, completed 7-of-17 passes for 82 yards with a touchdown and interception. The interception came when the ball bounced off receiver Ryan Meyer's hands. Meyers also had a dropped pass in the end zone and Thompson dropped a pass for a first down that hurt a couple of Adrian drives. Jacobs knows those areas must improve if the Maples hope to accomplish their goals this season."

Opponents head coach Joel Przygodski said. “They have a great offense and obviously their quarterback is a key in it."

This reminds me of when Billy Ray was a senior at Dunwoody in 1986 and was the #2 QB in the country behind Jeff George. He rarely even threw for 100 yds. his sr. year because the only pass his receivers could catch were screens.

Anyone watching Willy Korn today really think he is a 5-star? They lead, but 3 ints and a fumble by early second half?

I agree on Korn, Fridge. Fair arm, but not throwing bullets. Not as big as Threet. Not really that great of scrambling elusiveness. Looks like a typical HS QB IMO - definitely not a 5 star. He will not inspire fear in the ACC.

This is why mechanics are looked at so hard by college coaches and not always just stats when it comes to QB's and WR's. It is also what makes camps so important.

I was thinking the same thing. Too many forced mistakes. To be fair though his completions included some impressive throws.

Hopefully in upcoming games they will throw the ball more so we can see what Threet can do. The int he threw should be disregarded since it was a dropped ball. Its encouraging to hear what opposing coaches say of him, that he is the key to their "great offense".

I agree 100% fridge. Those stats are hideous, but don't tell that to a Climpson fan, as they would probably tell you that he is the best QB ever to play the game.

the problem is the more they throw it the more get dropped. he is simply not in a position with his current team to get a lot of yards in the air unless something changes.

The link to the Adrian paper is (they are the Adrian Maples):

I know stats are part of it, but in the case of a high school QB (other positions too) numbers are dependent on several other kids doing their jobs. Most of those kids are finishing their athletic careers.

That he threw well and they won is important. We need winners.
