Time to fire another DC

He's literally only had two games, and one was a shutout. Chill.

Lots of kneejerk reactions but nobody seems to want to ask the hard questions around here. Yeah, Stansbury has overseen the new locker room, new uniforms, increases to the staff budget, etc. But what is he doing to fix the tackling problem? When is enough enough?

I really for the life of me cannot figure out why we can’t tackle. Sure, we are undersized, not athletic etc. But multiple guys missing tackles is absolutely baffling.

Are you sure you didnt already answer your question?

I wouldn't think a kid could make a HS football team anywhere if they can't tackle. But for many years now, we seem to be among the best in the nation at finding those select few guys who can sneak through their high school careers without their coaches noticing they can't wrap up to save their lives.

Exactly thank you. It’s like as soon as defensive players commit they lose all their arm muscles.

Let me tell you a story and see if you can figure out the answer.
In the 9th grade, I was still fairly small...didn't hit puberty and grow until the summer after the 10th grade. But I was quick so I was a cornerback on the JV football team. I was a decent cover corner but I was a solid open field tackler with reasonable intelligence and good instincts and thus I was a starter on the team that year. We played Americus HS that year and Malcolm King (yes, the Malcom King from GT) took a toss sweep around the end and I went to lock him up like I had locked up many other RB's that year. Next thing I knew, I felt his foot landing on my chest and looked backwards from laying on the ground to see him galloping down the sidelines for a 60+ yard TD.

Moral of the story: technique only gets you so far...size matters.

Have you sent your tape to CPJ? Sounds like you might fit our scheme.

What is the common thread why our defense has been horrible for the past 11 years? It was not great under Gailey, but significantly better than under CPJ. I know CPJ has tried, what, 5 DCs who had been successful before they came here and a couple of these were successful after they left.

The poor tackling was as bad as it’s ever been yesterday. Hopefully our guys got a happy ending for all the ööööing handjobs they gave out yesterday.
