Time to look to Clemson

Only saw the Clem/Ugag game so I don't know what they'll bring to the plate. These guys seem to think that their WR's stack up well against our CB's. They don't give Reuben much credit, but they're giving a LOT of credit to our LB's.

Thoughts?

Tenuta has done a remarkable job and it would be a shame if we were 1-3 after all of this.

Clemson is going to be a battle. I compare their offense to BYU's. They will spread it out and throw it all over the field. Our secondary really needs to play well. They got very good recievers and Whitehurst is a good QB.

Offensively we need to make more plays. Less than 20 points probably won't win this game. We need PJ to build on his game Saturday to take the load off Reggie. We need somebody -- anybody -- who can go over the middle and make a catch (Bilbo?)

Unless this year takes a different turn, I expect another battle with Clemson. Another nailbiter. I have GT winning but close!

I thought they had a pretty good analysis.

And most of all I am scared they are right that their QB has a lot more between the ears than Rix. I don't care about his new found running ability, I do care that he has the brains and can make the reads to spread our D and deal with the pressure we will bring. FSU and Auburn did not react well to Tanuta's pressure. This kid could - and that scares me.

But maybe (hopefully) baby Bowden will try to run over us.

Weather shouldn't be a issue either: 76/55 and partly cloudy.

Hopefully it stays that way!

Do you think Tommie-Boy has been on the phone all weekend talking to Papa?

Good breakdown of what I'd do if I were Clemson. Now we just got to stop it!

I think we beat GT.

Mainly, because I think our offense can score more than their offense can.

There's no doubt that John Tenuta is one of the top D.Coordinators in the nation. I think that highly of him.

However, I think GT's defense is susceptible to the pass and if our offense comes out and passes to set up the run then I think they will play well against GT's suprisingly good defense.

I think it will be critical for us to attack the middle of the field with the TE. At least 3 balls need to be thrown to the 2nd tier, middle third, of the field just behind the LB's. This should soften up the agressiveness of their LB's which IMO are the heart and soul of the GT defense. If we allow them to focus only on the run and short crossing routes then our offense very well may sputter and we could easily lose this game.

Furthermore, I think using a mixture of the I and spread and also mixing the pace at which we snap the ball should provide a nice change of pace that should aid in keeping them off balance.

I think GT's secondary is their weakness. We can exploit that as long as we keep them from getting a pass rush. Once again, this game will come down to our OL play just like always. I did notice that Willie Reid, who is fast for a TB (probably because he plays WR too) had some nice success against GT's front 7. If Coleman and/or Browning can hit the holes quickly, then maybe we can have some nice production from the running game. We just need adequate here.

It'll be a close game as usual win lose or draw.

It's amazing how Clempson's fans can be enthusiastic after getting whipped by UGA, squeaking by Div 1AA Furman, and then beating up on a lousy MTSU team. We are battle tested, they haven't scored a point on a decent team. We won't have to put 8 in the box to stop their running attack so should be able to cover them. We should win this game.

Clemson has some intangibles in their favor.

The game not being on TV will not give our guys as much rest.

They are starting to use a No Huddle. We have not handled the no huddle well perhaps in some part due to depth.

They have had a lot of time to prepare for us while we are due for a letdown after playing huge in THREE nationally televised games.

The crowd will have a lot of orange so our fans will have to bring the A game. IMHO, the fans had better come prepared to lay it all out there every play.

GTC, Were this game away, I'd agree with you on the letdown from three national games. With it being in front of a home crowd, I think second winds will be easier get with the BDS crowd behind them. A loud crowd can also disrupt the no-huddle. There's always a lot of orange in the stands when they roll into town, but we had a lot of orange colored seats two weeks ago and did alright

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">GTCrew, you get my vote for post of the day. My thoughts exactly with the exception of your last point. This crowd will not look nearly as impressive as the crowd for Auburn. In fact, most of the empty seats here Saturday will be those tickets sitting on coffee tables in Auburn, Alabama via the (3 game plan).

Not criticizing the marketing technique, at least it sold tickets!

The biggest scare is the very valid combination of points you brought up. This is our 3rd large game in a row emotion wise and playing nearly anybody after Auburn and then FSU seems to be rather 'blah'.

The coaching staff has their work cut out this week. Not so much in the X's and O's, for they've proven through the first quarter of the season they can do that! Rather, Gailey and staff face a tremendous task in preventing the team from coming out flat. Here's hoping that they can.

Jackson - a wierd as it sounds I am almost worried that we might just shut down their running game entirely. I would much rather see them line up in the I and try to run the ball than see the no huddle with 5 wides.

If the Clemson kid can make good decisions they can wear us down in that alignment and keep our pressure from getting to him. That worries me a lot.

Run Tommie Run

A few of the Clempson folks I have spoken with think they are going to get their butts whipped. They are not real high on the team or coach this year, not like Clempson fans in the past.

I think we need a real high scoring game on our side and a few D pick offs. Lets make the TV networks wish they had us on the tube Saturday night.

Even with Furman and MTSU, they are still only averaging 114 yds per game rushing. We should be able to do them like we did Aub. They are averaging 254 per game passing which isn't good, but if they totally abandon the run and throw to that 'Air' guy in the flats, Smith and Fox will destroy him.

Bet we see a 3-4 with lots of LB/CB blitzes

Don't forget that Bowden is still their coach. He has done less with more than any other coach in recent memory.

Dantzler single handedly beat us under O'Leary three years ago. Bowden had nothing to do with that. Watkins then single handedly beat them the next year.

Last year we could have easily won if not for a game killing interception by Suggs.

This game is a toss up, but after what I have seen so far this season I certainly give the coaching edge to us.
