At this time it is pretty clear that GT will play a better opponent than they faced the last few bowls. A win puts the team at 8 wins which is a big step up from 7 and will put us in the top 15 or so in the final poll. Lots of excitement for 2006 with a solid nucleus returning. A loss would certainly not help the momentum we really need to maintain.

GT will probably face a very good Northwestern in the Music City bowl. This is a tough team to play with a very good offense and probably the best QB we will have faced this year. The Big 10 is as strong this year as it has been in a long time. Make a statement in this game and we get some major national props.

Louisville in Gator is a possibility. Louisville apparently has Brohm injured. I recall reading that last year's starter, who was extremely solid, changed positions to allow Brohm to play (and not lose out). So now we could face a team with plenty of time to get their former starter back to full speed and little to no film for us to prepare with. And Louisville is loaded with Prop 48s like FSUwest. This is a no win for GT since a loss will be blamed on Brohm's injury. I'm not excited about the 'opportunity'.

Peach against a SEC team is interesting although slim. I am not impressed by the SEC teams. We can play with any of them for sure.

I will rank them in my opinion
Auburn - better offense talent than UGA, solid defense. I think they are the best in the SEC right now.
LSU - very close with UGA IMHO. I expect a close SECC.
UGA - very good D, passing game is only 'weakness' IMHO.
South Carolina - adequate talent playing lights out with obviously the best coaching in the country
Florida - move up one if Urban really plays vertically with Leak
Alabama - solid D and not much else

I think we would handle Bama and the rest would be very challenging. Therefore I would prefer Bama.

Northwestern would be very tough in Nashville. Bret Bazanez is a precision passer, and just a smart knowledgeable QB. I'd come pare him to George Godsey. He is good. The freshman running back Tyrell Sutton is just explosive. They would be a force to be reckoned with. They put 51 on Wisconsin and were a play away from beating Penn State.

Minnesota would be tough too, and playing them is a possibility. Laurence Maroney is a powerful back who runs away from people. I don't know how good of a QB Brian Cupito is, but they say that name alot on those ESPN and ESPN2 12 p.m. games that Minnesota plays in. Music City Bowl would be a tough game IMO. But it would also be a good matchup. Those are really the only 2 Big 10 members that are likely to represent them in that bowl game.
