I've been working on my plan to redo Tech's season ticket sales in a manner that:
Set the base price for all tickets this season at $50/seat UGA, $40/seat ACC games, $30/seat for the warmup games assuming that the person buys season tickets. For individual game ticket sales charge $100 for UGA, $60 for ACC games and $40 for warmup games. (Visiting team tickets may be priced based on the reciprocal year to year agreements for the 7500 seats usually allotted.)
All unsold tickets 2 weeks before the game except for a few holdbacks for last minute sales are given to school football teams, rec league football teams, church youth groups, etc. that are aggressively marketed to and signed up in advance. Although these seats don't produce any ticket revenue they provide an investment in Tech's future, and we all know that these groups would produce significant concession sales, noise and enthusiasm.
Even better, offer these unsold tickets to be "bought" by Tech fans at a steep discount and then donated back to the above type groups. Then the AA gets some revenue (say $10/ticket) and the season ticket holder gets additional tax benefit.
That’s a start. What am I missing?
- Is fair to the long term fan and alumni
- Rewards those who give to Ga Tech
- Stick it to the visiting fans
