Do you think we make it in this week?
#24 UConn lost
#23 Oregon lost
#22 Fresno State lost
#18 Wisconsin lost
#13 Aurburn lost
#10 Brigham Young lost

That's 4 MAYBE 5 teams dropping out. Do you think we sneak in?

A couple of teams at the front of 'also receiving votes' lost also, like Maryland and Kentucky. Unfortunately for us, UNC and FSU got more votes than us in the AP poll, and got wins today as well.

BYU didn't lose... Fresno State is losing by 10 in the 3rd, that game's not over... Auburn won't fall out of the top 25, but outside of the LSU game they have been pretty unimpressive. Must be nice to be able to skate by on name/conference recognition alone... I wouldn't be surprised if we made the top 25 but I'm not really expecting it. If we TCB against Gardner-Webb and we're not in then, that would be silly.

UConn's out. Oregon falls out. Fresno falls out if they lose.

Wisconsin and Auburn stay in. South Florida was the number 10 that lost and they probably stay in too.

So, let's say there are three spots open.

UNC, TCU, Tulsa and Illinois were above us and had impressive wins this week. Mich St wasn't so impressive, but they were 27th and won again.

So no, I don't expect to be top 25. Not that it matters. Anything below 10 is just stuff to get the fan bases excited.

I bet FSU gets back in. I don't see us getting in unless we win at Clemson

The Top 25 does matter - at the end of the year. Right now it is good fan material - especially since it's been a while since we've been able to sustain a ranking. That could be one reason so many are brushing off the rankings on this board. We're all gun-shy about being ranked and losing it. Old habits die hard.

I wouldn't be surprised if Pitt snuck back in too. UNC will be in. They made the best case for that yesterday. Auburn will settle around #22. Wisconsin should be out, but they won't be. Fresno is done. Same as UConn. I will be very sad if Free Shoes gets in. But not surprised.

And Auburn isn't the only team in the SEC under this umbrella at the moment.

Not to worry. We'll get our respect soon enough. Once we prove to the coaches and media we can beat the top teams regularly we'll consistently rank...even preseason. Especially as we add to the talent over the next several years.

Why --oh why-- is Auburn still ranked in the top 25?

wins:
LA-Monroe (1-4)
S. Miss. (2-3)
Miss. St. (1-4)
Tenn. (2-3)

ttl blsht!

Because they had a close game with LSU (who also hasn't played anyone) and because they got into the top-10 and for some reason pollsters don't like to drop teams more than 5 spots if they lose even if it's the beginning of the season.

You mean like when Clemson fell from #9 out of the polls completely?

I generally don't believe bias plays a significant factor when polls are released, but I think that Auburn is definitely reaping the benefits of being an SEC team (and not being blown out by anyone) the same way that Clemson was blamed for the ACC appearing to be mediocre.

i dont really care if we get ranked, no1 notices us, no1 will probably..there are so many teams that are 4-1, 5-1, why would they put gtech up there when there are so many others that could fill the spots...

if you want to be ranked just wait it will come with time and success
