So you definitely think Dwyer is better, but you won't put him ahead of Choice? I'm confused. If all you're doing is ranking by numbers then just pull out the stat book and list 'em.
Ivery would be my pick over Choice. Pushing some of the lower guys on the list might be Lucius Sanford and Kent Hill.
For those that haven't seen it yet, Dwyer is a very special back. Like you could field teams for 100 years at GT and may never see such a physical, athletic specimen playing runningback for the Jackets again. He will be GT's version of Bo Jackson or Hershel Walker. Enjoy watching him this year because he very well may not be here after this season.
I'd be happy to be mentioned in the top 100.
Eddie Lee was just as special. As was Lavette.
They were ranking the 10 best players from 1975.
My money is on Dwyer passing Choices 4 year total in his third year (1634 more yards).
Choice only had a three year total.
He had 22 attempts as a freshman.
Man...I'd have to throw in Scott Sisson just for sentimental reasons.
I think as far as pure talent goes, yes, he's better. When I say he is more talented, I mean from pure physical ability and upside. I think Dwyer has the ability to and most likely WILL pass Choice if he stays but I'm not gonna unseat a guy for a sophomore that's really only had one great season.
I'm actually not arguing either way, just think it's silly to wait on something unless you're just choosing based on numbers...he's either better or he's not.
After CJ's frosh season, we knew he was gonna be great but no one was ready to put him ahead of Kelly Campbell on the all-time Tech WR list. Has he passed him now? Most definitely. But after one great season, he was not.
Actually I think you may be the only one who wouldn't have put CJ ahead of Campbell after his first year. Again, unless you're just counting yards or TDs, there was no question CJ was better.
It's not about the numbers so much as what you have accomplished. But the numbers DO swing in Choice's favor, as well.
What kind of accomplishment are you looking for? Maybe ACC Offensive POY?
And do you guys not realize what Choice meant to this team? We had absolutely no one behind him to run. He WAS the offense and the heart and soul of the team. Sorry, but that guy is still one of my all-time favorite GT players.
So you're ranking favorite players. That makes sense I guess. But if that's what you're doing you need to just say that.
Do I love Dwyer? Absolutely. Do I think he is the best back in the nation? YES! Will I put him ahead of Choice with one more great season? Yes... Just not yet.
And just to make it clear, the numbers are the top criteria that people look at in ranking players.
IMO, Marino was a more talented and smarter QB than Brett Favre but many people rank Favre ahead of Marino. Why is that? Championships?
