This year, after playing ten games, we have still not had a game in which the other team scored 30 or more points.

This was true last year, but then we allowed 30+ in each of the last two games.

Before 2007, the last time we were ten games deep in the season and had not allowed 30 or more points in a game was 1985. Tech finished that year without ever giving up 30.

Here's to the 2008 team as they try to accomplish what the 85 squad did (and also as they try to score more than 30 in each of the remaining games.)

Nice but also a function of the OTHER teams. What have they averaged during yr and what did they score on us.Still the overall DEF has been a nice surprise.

South Carolina, Arizona St, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, (and of course Florida) all held the mighty Dawgs to under 30. With the exception of UF, these are not great teams or even particularly great defenses. Certainly, these are AWFUL offenses. In fact, those teams held them to an average score of 20 points. The Dawgs got 30 against Bama in the second half because Bama stopped taking them seriously. The Dawgs' season average excluding Ga Southern and Central Michigan is 28.

Wow, three times in eight attempts they have been able to score 30+ on legitimate teams. They only won two of those (Kentucky and LSU).

I bet they don't score more than 30 on Auburn either.

If we are reasonably healthy and can move the damned ball some and not turn it over much, we will absolutely keep them in the 20s or lower.

Agreed. Also, in 2006 we didn't allow 30 in twelve of our first 13 games, and the one that we did we allowed 31, which is basically the same as allowing 28. The defense has definitely been better than expected, but I wouldn't put them up there on any "all time great defenses" lists.

South Carolina has a great defense, but I still think you make a good point. Beat the mutts.
