Doh! So close ... and from looking at the answer I guess Dr. Cyrus W. Strickler had a pretty good run of it too in 1901.

I'm going to say Mac McWhorter (1-0), Cyrus Strickler (4-0-1), and John Heisman (102-29-7). I figured you were looking for McWhorter, but I definitely had to look Strickler up.
