True freshmen don't belong

In this offense. I saw too many times where they missed blocks and tried to reverse field. Yes, the offensive line blows, but don't make a two yard loss five. We've seen this time and again with the skilled position players. They simply don't have all the skills right out of high school where they were the studs. We're forced to use them because unbalanced classes and that's on CPJ.

Actually we're forced to use them due to 7 injured A backs.

Most of them freshmen who didn't have a year of training.

I am pretty positive most of them were redshirt freshmen or higher. I don't think we started burning redshirts until last week.

We went deep last week, but we were counting on a lot with zero game experience.

We just need to cut some of the guys who can't play and bring in 33 players a year until we have some depth and experience. What would saben do?

That isn't the problem. Remember Zenon as a freshmen? He was good as a senior.

Fair/unfair IIWII.

It becomes incumbent upon the brain trust to put the players he has (he recruited, he did or did not redshirt) in a position to succeed.

Andrews, Snoddy, Searcy, Lynch, Willis. Those are 3 good and 2 serviceable A-backs that should have been our rotation all year, but it didn't work out that way. Not only that, the most "ready to play" freshman A-backs got injured preseason, forcing us to go way down the tr-Fr list to guys that nobody ever thought would play.

I agree that true freshman are not likely to succeed in this offense, unless they are exceptional. That's a big party of why we're struggling right now.

Why is that all we have in an offense that depends on that position? What did Andrews do to get kicked off the team? That is only part of the problem. The offensive line is offensive.

I don't think the issue is that freshmen don't belong, as we've had some that were really good. Roddy Jones is a notable example. I'd count Smelter as one, even though he was technically a junior since he didn't play football in college until junior year.

However, you can't expect 11 true freshmen to play on a team without having a drop-off. I think you can blame CPJ for the recruiting gap, but it seems a bit much to blame him for everyone with experience getting injured.

Unfortunately we don't have freshman that want to deliver the blow. They avoid the hit and/or take a hit but aren't getting the extra yard or two. THey are freshmen, I get it. Just pointing out what I see.

Agree, they're not ready to play at too many positions. Another year or two of S and C, proper diet, and reps would make a huge difference.

Roddy wasn't a true freshman.
