I know everyone has strong opinions on the hire--myself included. I think the view that DRAD has a firm grip on the GTAA reins--plus apparently a huge set of brass 'nads--is correct. We can all debate the issue until a coach is named. I have some favorites, but in view of the fact that coaches were being interviewed over a year ago during Chan's flirtation with the Dolphins and Steelers (very prudent IMHO) I have to assume that the Athletic Director has access to significantly more information than any of us do, and so far I like the direction he seems to be intent on taking us. It is win-win for Georgia Tech at this point. First, Gailey has been dispatched. In so doing it seems to me Radakovich has made a long term personal committment to run Georgia Tech athletics. I see any one of nine or ten candidates under discussion as improving Georgia Tech football. Right now only a catastrophically idiotic selection would hurt us. Let's all enjoy the drama as it plays out.

Got to love Drad..He certainly answers his email promptly. I do trust the guy!

Yes the man is amazing...the mere fact that he's taking time out of his job to personally respond to emails....especially at such a busy time shows his committment to the fan base & let's you know your voice is being acknowledged & not ignored....I can't say that I would be taking the time to reply in the midst of this situation, so many other fires burning...WE HAVE A GREAT ONE MY FRIENDS IN OUR AD....Makes me feel sorta selfish for putting my 2 cents in when so MUCH BIGGER things are going on at GT....So keep that in mind when flooding his "in box" with personal emails....He's doing a great job...Can't wait to see how this all unfolds.

I agree completely, I think firing chan was Drad's way of stepping up and saying that he wouldn't stand for mediocrity and he feels that he can take our athletics to the next level. When we had Drad on the Ramblin Wreck Sports Report when he was in the studio he even carried a very strong presence and I think he has full control of what is going on in the AA.

I agree we have an outstanding man here but surely no one can seriously believe he himself is responding to all our emails personally. But I do like the fact that he has set someone up with a system to make us feel like our opinions are appreciated and welcome.

Good post indeed Yukon, however we have no choice but to trust him. The only red flag to me, is this really has the feel of a done deal based on 1st interview and lack of contact (that we know of) with others. If we sign a high risk guy without having clearly seriously (not just for appearance sake) considered others, then the choice will start out at an even higher risk level.

Well stated GoldZ. I would like to see a quick replacement for the recruiting process. With that in mind I believe it is more important to look at the long term. If it takes longer to find the right person and we lose some recruits I am okay with that.

I’m a member of the DRad fan club. Braine was an easy act to follow. But DRad has yet to make a major hiring decision. By my book this is his first time at the plate so while I’m hopeful, I’m watching closely.

I won't have confidence in his ability to hire the right head coach until the coach is on-board and has at least one respectable season under his belt.

Some of you have short memories of past “good” hires and are too willing to blindly trust..

I'm with 71 on this one. I think Rad has done a great job addressing key issues within the AA. However, dealing with finances and getting the right guy to head your football team take different skill sets, so this hire is huge. I will 100% enthusiastically support whoever he hires (except maybe Terry Bowden) but the proof will be down the road on whether it was "good" or not.

Its like Homer Rice said on the radio one time back in the 80s when some of his decisions were being called into question.

He didn't get defensive, he just said that he hired the best person for the job and let that person do their job. If they didn't do a good job he would make a change. Then he advised the interviewer that if the Tech folk weren't happy with the way he did his job then they were free to replace him.

Homer didn't tolerate 2nd guessing. And neither should dRad. I believe that is more commonly referred to as the inmates running the asylum. And we are the inmates.

Its dRad's job to find us a new head coach. If he whiffs, then we can evaluate it then. But to evaluate and 2nd guess his decision after the new guy has been on campus for 72 hours is nothing short of madness.

Whoever he chooses should be given ample time to prove himself. We owe that to Dan.

Lets all support DRad no matter if he picks the guy you want or not. He is the one sitting in on the interviews and has far more information on all of these guys than do any of us. Im positive he will make a good choice and do what he feels is best for the program at this time.
