Obviously more of a symptom of our poor play than the cause, but our turnover margin this year has been about .8 turnovers per game worse than last year.

Over a 10 game slate, that comes out to 8 turnovers. Just think of how differently certain games would have gone with a pick or fumble recovery going our way (on offense or defense). The momentum swing alone would have probably won us a couple of games.

Those 3 fumbles last night and the fact that we could be 7-3 with just a handful of plays turning out differently are a tough pill to swallow.

+1

The turnovers this year have shot off one or two of our feet in addition to the sloppy play of the line.

Can not get the image of dropped interception, on the goal, that would have gone for 98 yard TD vs uwhine&cheese.

Or the one against Clemson.

We've had a few plays that, if made, would have given us a shot of confidence. Last year we got a few bounces and our team believed they could win any game. This year, we play waiting for the other shoe to drop. And it does.

Reversion to the mean?

Unfortunately, this.

This year we are at 0.00 turnover margin, which ranks us 70th nationally.

Last year we were +0.79 per game, 14th in the country.

This year we are 126th in the country, at 24 fumbles, or 114th in the country at 11 fumbles lost, through ten games. Last year we had 20 fumbles 12 lost the entire season.

So turnovers forced went down, and turnovers went up.

What we have here is that when we replaced our Sr Abacks and Bbacks with freshmen and walkons, our fumbles went up. Ball protection means a whole lot more when you aren't the most talented guy on the field anymore.

wouldnt turnovers be -1?
