This isn't a critism of Gailey, just points of interest

1. He mentioned in response to one question that "we aren't a big check off team"....huh ?

Wonder if thats a reflection of Suggs and unfamilarity with the system, or perhaps something else ? I can't imagine not checking off when needed

2. "We're breaking in a new QB and a "NEW SYSTEM"

huh ? I thought that one of the many reasons we stuck with BOB was so that we DIDN'T have to have a "new system"..

Any thoughts ?

He corrected himself after saying "new system" - although, it may have been a freudian slip.

We're not a big check off team. Has nothing to do with Suggs. We weren't with Godsey. We were with Hamilton, and a lot of that had to do of him being able to call his own number because of his athleticism.

Every year the system changes somewhat especially if there is a new qb. A lot of what a team does has to do with it's strengths and weaknesses.

A lot of teams don't check off much. It just depends on the offense they are running.

I agree GRUSH,

this is kinda what I was saying with my earlier post.

I dont want to read too much into coaches responses to the media. We have to wait until they take the field.

Ironically, BYU is the perfect team for them to face now. A solid, but beatable team that should give the team a chance to rebound.

hope it works out.

Wow - so we're not a check off team....
I'm sorry; not to be critical; but here we are in the year 2002 and we're not checking off at the LOS ?????????? That seems more than bizarre.
So we're not taking advantage of defensive shifts, or defensive alignments to our advantage ???

I don't get it. I didn't realize there was a team in the NCAAs that didn't check off at the LOS....

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something

Gold Rush,
If you are old enough, just put your mind back 10 years to 1992-1994. It will gradually all start to come clear to you. Sad, I know.

Gold Rush - Frankly these guys have shown some difficulty getting to the line and running the play called. I'm not sure if they could handle a check off.

Hey Beeware
Unfortunately, I am old enough...Not only for that era, but the Bud Carson era, and a few others after that which I'd like to forget

Anyway, I do know this -> after saturday, I read your posts, hoping you are wrong, but definitely paying attention

Keep on posting, I have grown to like your posts (again, with the therapy thing perhaps), maybe I'm in the minority on that, but I'm a BIG believer in free speech, and I do think you are a BIG Tech fan who is frustrated seeing the potential, potentially go down the tubes...If you weren't a loyal Tech fan, I don't think you would care this much...

Two things can save you from a sack usually.#1-a good ck-off system and #2-a mobile heady QB to get rid of ball but apparently we have neither
