I like that they have continuity in discipline in both the academic and athletic arenas. I enjoy that there have been accusations for nearly 20 years and only now have the taken "action" and still allowed him to teach via online courses. Sounds to me like St Mark's policy of letting thugs accrue multiple offenses and then instead of kicking them off the team just suspending from a couple easy non-cons. If anything you'd think it be a vacation to not go on campus everyday and have to deal with those rednecks. Not to mention he can still solicit young women via email.

Does anyone know the exact JOCK majors at UGA. It is easy to determine, just see what the football players are majoring in. Are they (UGA) taking partial qualifiers? If CK the HS All American RB from Atlanta can get in and stay in, something is fishy. Tech could not even recruit this kid.

UGA doesn't even list the major for most football players on their website. Shows how much they care about the "student" part of Student-Athlete.

I don't believe anyone can sign "partial qualifiers" anymore. These are the kids that go to Hargrave, etc. and then end up on campus a year later.

I remember DJ Shockley's major was "Leisure Studies", that has to be the easiest major out there, easier than Clemson's "Parks and Recreation Management" and VPI's "Retail Management".

Also remember that sometimes it isn't just a major but also a general field of study that applicable to multiple majors which can at times keep an athlete above the 2.00 GPA line and allow him to stay eligible. I was reading a series of stories in the Seattle times about the 2000 UW football team (not a great read for Neuheisel fans) and they referenced a series of Swahili courses that were notorious for keeping athletes eligible. These courses were offered to athletes ahead of regular students and so many of them took them that a regular student had to wait over 2 years to be able to get a slot in the class.

Swahili classes article (about former safety C. Williams) http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2004150796_rbwilliams281.html

When I was at UGa, Coach Copas taught Drivers Ed courses each spring. Since football players registered ahead of all other students, they filled each class. These were 5 hour credit classes with guaranteed "A"s.:wow:

It is an NCAA statistic that 98% of SA's never get a paycheck from NFL. Since it seems that a high percentage of SA's take these worthless majors and most don't go on to NFL, aren't we using these kids for entertainment and throwing them away. When is the NCAA going to get back to real student athletes ?
This would help Tech compete since we don't have Jock majors. I think we and everyone else that think these kids are being 'used' for entertainment purposes should speak up on these Blogs, AJC, etc.

That's a class Ugagers could actually use now since they have driving offenses every offseason. It would be awesome to find out the still teach that class.

They won't go to the playoff system that all of their fans wants because of money, there is no chance in hell of them doing something like that. You can still go watch some D-3 ball though.

I know the NCAA is sadly about money now, but aren't there some moral people out there that do not want to use a pumped up HS hero for entertainment and then turn them out into the world without a real degree (and about half do not graduate from these fake degrees!) ? These are kids who do not realize what they are doing until after their playing days are done. I think these Jock degrees just make college football a minor league for Pro Football.
