UGA cracking down

UGA athletes are going to have to become actual student athletes.

Article also mentions how class attendance (or lack thereof) has become a big issue in the SEC.
That's really a great story. Kudos to UGAg for doing the right thing.

It's good for the SAs, who often take advantage of a "free education" and it's good for the donors who are funding the scholarships.

Bought damn time UGAg starting making the AD shape up and get with the rest of the program. The Dooley days are over. No more free passes for 'student athletes.'

Things are tougher all over at Athens. No longer do they throw diplomas in your car window. You actually have to park nowadays and go to the will call window.

Got to give Evans credit. Even if many of the degrees aren't worth the paper they're written on, at least he's got them showing up for class.

Hope we do the same at Ma Tech...

I am now dissappointed. I fully expected some form of UGA-crack joke from someone on this board. Come on folks. You're slipping.

Does Evans really think that any of them can find the classroom? Any classroom?

Kudos to the University for this:

"The money is donated to United Way."

Glad to see it isn't being used as a fundraiser.

Well, it wouldnt be much of a penalty if the athletic department had to just pay themselves back, now would it? The AD pays the players, the players pay the AD back? What kind of motivation is that?

I'll believe it when I see it. Saying that you will fine someone is a lot different than fining someone.
