I have been wanting to check out a GT Thursday night game as the atmosphere seems pretty exciting and a GT buddy of mine has an extra ticket. I'm a huge college football fan and love seeing the different traditions at all the different colleges, so I am wondering what GT does different for Thursday night games as opposed to Saturday games?
I'll be neutral in my attire, no red and a Braves hat, to keep down the stares and sparse comments.

Not too much is different from Saturday - it's just the cool, fall air and the Atlanta skyline in the background. And the fact that it's the only game on - so anyone that's remotely a college fball fan is watching it.

I just really enjoy the Thursday night games under the lights. BDS and the surrounding area, the lit-up buildings and the lights themselves, not to mention the cooler football-type weather in late Sep/early Oct, just a great atmosphere. I hope GT will continue this tradition for many years to come.

Another plus is that I can have a somewhat relaxing day of watching college football on Saturday, knowing GT has already put their game in the books with a W.

Someone needs to loan GaJake some old gold for tonight's game. :D

I would agree with everything that's been said already.

Plus, it's also a nice excuse to cut out a little bit early from work to head down and tailgate. ;)

Enjoy the game Jake. BDS is a special place at night with the Atlanta sky line all lit up.
I have a "dawg" son and he goes to Tech games "neutered" also and actually pulls for the Jackets. I hope you will do the same.

I'd agree on all thats been said.

Since most college stadiums are in small towns...you don't get the great view of a night metro skyline very often durning a game. So that just makes for a great atmosphere.

Plus the night lights and the great weather!

Of course tonight with the 70's Throwback will be a little different than normal Thursday Night Games.

It seems to me that we always get a better crowd for night games and Thursday games are always at night. You also really notice the skyline more at night. It gives you a much different vibe than other college venues.

I'm not sure we've ever sold out a Thursday night game. Traffic is just a bitch. It's a really neat atmosphere, though. Very pretty game.

I'll be honest. Pulling for GT is something I could only do against a team from outside the South Eastern United States and I don't have any beef with UVA. I really like watching Calvin Johnson and Choice. My disdain for Reggie Ball makes it very difficult to root for GT in any capacity right now, but I'll be there with an open mind. Maybe my neutrality and a great atmosphere will make me clap a little, but I can't promise anything. I would rather see GT win, so does that mean I'm pulling for Tech?
I guess so, but if anyone expects a "Go Jackets!" from me, you're buzzing up the wrong tree.
I'm sure you understand.
Here's to a good game and a GT win.

One more thing.....
I've been to BDS for a day game before. Going there made me really question why the Atlanta Falcons don't play outside. We don't need a dome. Maybe Mr. Blank will build a new stadium in his proposed Spagetti Junction area in 10 years. Once Vick leaves the Falcons, so will the fans as long as they continue to play in the current location.

I don't have one ounce of problem with this. Actually, I want you to "hate" us. Know what I mean? ;)

Of course it does, and that's good enough for me. Noone could possibly expect any more from a dawg.
GO JACKETS!

If we didn't sell out the VT game in '04, we were very, very close to doing so.

Well I had *tickets* to that game, but couldn't go because I had the PE exam the next morning down in Macon.

I came down to Atlanta for that game. If you were sold out, I would be very very surprised. There were lots of empty seats in the upper deck of the endzone. It's possible that all of the tickets were bought, but the stands were NOT full.

Btw, I'd love to see your Jackets pound UVA tonight. And I can't wait until you guys visit Blacksburg, as you will be our first good opponent of the season!

Sometimes you just have to sacrifice for the sake of what you really want to do beej. I blew off studying the night before a Biology final because I had tickets for the rescheduled Ozzy Osbourne / Motley Crue tour in '84.

IIRC I ended up with a C for the course. As you can see I really had my priorities in line at the age of nineteen. :drink1: :woot:

Yes, well, I'll take my Professional Engineer liscense over a grade in Biology. :p

I went to the Primus concert at the Lakewood Exibition Center the night before my SATs. Couldn't hold my head up the next day.

Ooo! And I blew off studying for my Calc5 final my freshman year to bail a friend out. Didn't get back from the Cherokee County Jail until sunrise.

I hope your seats are in the upper north or west stands so you can fully enjoy the night game atmosphere of downtown Atlanta. There is nothing like it in college football.

I took the SATs twice - the 2nd time I was hung over & stayed out all night. And scored better - about the same on math and about 100 pts higher on the verbal.

Other UGa fans have found it helpful to do some one-arm pushups at midfield just prior to the coin toss but I can't vouch for it. :-)

Well, you're a better man than me. I'll be rooting for team who didn't deserve a share of the 1990 MNC on Saturday. You know, my dixie pride can only go so far.
