when I read all these positive articles from AUC and others I think that those media ugag fans who were SLAMMED into the REALITY train were more than happy to throw us some luv.

Don't misunderstand me I think we still get the red headed step kid treatment but that is a STEP UP from where we have been in my life time.

If we can reel 2 more wins from Ugag then I think you will start to see a shift towards AT LEAST fair coverage.

What would you say was unfair about our coverage this season? Everyone and their dad loves Paul Johnson. We got nothing but good press(except for that SI preseason prediction).

the lack of local publicity hurts your chances for post season awards

MJ and Dwyer were ignored by auc and MJ was ridiculed by 790

Also Burnett did not get the proper recognition. If auc had given those guys ugag treatment they would have at least ap 2nd team all american.

IMO although the coverage has improved it is still slanted.

My favorite Preseason Ugay hype article/poll from Ajc.

"Will Ugay have more wins than Falcons and Tech combined?"

I love the irony considering GT and Falcons are my 2 favorite teams. Does anyone have a link?

Well, if we want preseason #1 treatment for our players like U[sic]GA got, we need to get to the point where we are a preseason #1. Winning is how you get good publicity. Everyone thinks that the AJC is so biased towards U[sic]GA and they all hate Tech, giving all the Tech articles negative slants. Well, go look at any Georgia AJC article starting with the Alabama game and you'll see negative slants, because their team sucked. Ever since then, the AJC has given nothing but love to Tech and done nothing but blast U[sic]GA. Even in the "field guide" before the game, most of the jokes were in Tech's favor(http://www.ajc.com/blogs/content/sh...2008/11/26/field_guide_for_tech_uga_fans.html). Winning is what brings good articles and coverage.

As for the first half of the season and preseason...well, you need to get a good preseason ranking before that happens. Being the hottest team at the end of the season and demolishing a team in a BCS bowl doesn't hurt. It's not just the AJC that's like that; you don't see Tech on the cover of national magazines or ESPN like you did the Dawgs either. Yes, I understand the AJC is a local paper, but of course they're going to give MORE attention to the #1 team than an unranked team.

Even that poll about the combined wins of Tech and the Falcons wasn't really a pot shot at us; most Georgia fans are Falcons fans too, and I doubt the AJC has a vendetta against the city's only NFL team. It just felt like one because that's where we'd let our program get to; looking back, most people were expecting six(at most) wins for us and maybe three for the Falcons, and at least nine for U[sic]GA. It's all about on the field results.

790 I have nothing to say about. I don't listen to talk radio.

You guys are nuts. The AJC ran more glowing Tech articles this season than I have seen collectively up to this point. I can't even begin to link them all.

One that stands out in particular was the article about how Dwyer was getting hosed by the ACC for not getting the offensive player of the week award.

The only publication more positive about Tech than the AJC this year was the Technique. I agree that the coverage has been questionable in years past but not this year.

The AUC only jumped on the bandwagon after midseason and the dogs got stomped by Bammer and it was apparent they were a paper tiger.

This was the first year that UGAy had ever been preseason #1 and they ate it up at the AUC. that made our win even more sweet, IMO.

They were not only not #1 in the country, they weren't even #1 in the state.

But no doubt the AUC has shifted the spotlight to GT and PJ. I expect the same as we go forward and our program outshines theirs...
