I'm really confused right now about why UGAg is being so heralded going into this season, again. (1) They lost their "prodigies" and (2) they have a "brutal schedule" yet they are continually ranked in the 15-20 range.

Is it because their "brutal schedule" isn't all that brutal really? Why does this argument come up EVERY YEAR? Let's look at this year: they miss Alabama, have LSU at home and have a week off before the game in Jacksonville. I just get sick of hearing that argument as a reason to not be good with (let's be honest) some of the best overall talent in college. I guess that last game in Atlanta and a trip to Stillwater must be what make it so hard, right?

Didn't you just answer your own question?

I get sick of the brutal schedule thing every year too.

I remember it last year quite vividly.

Actually I think they have a tough schedule this year:

Oklahoma State v VPI
Georgia Tech v UGA
Florida v FSU
LSU v UNC
Auburn v Miami
Arizona State v Clemson
South Carolina v Virginia
Tennessee v Wake
Vanderbilt v Vanderbilt
Kentucky v Duke
Arkansas v Miss State
Patsie v Patsie

I think our schedule is very tough this year and there's certainly is as tough IMO.

To be honest I really dont know what to expect from them. I could see them losing 6 and at the same time I could see them winning 9 or ten. The O-line should be very good, but they have so many unknowns. I am leaning toward 4 losses mainly bc I do not think their D will be improved. King is no Moreno but should be ok behind that line.

In the words of the venerable Brother Dave Gardner, "Love your enemies; it will drive them nuts". Ignore the slurpers and they will hate you for it!

But their players have all those big stars beside their names on Scout and Rivals. As many stars as sand on the sea shores. Other teams tremble and fall before them just at the mention of "How 'bout them dawgs."
They bad! [And ugly, too.]

For years Vince Dooley has had compromising pic's of some of the SEC's VIP's taken at a drunken orgy during his reign as head nadlicker--and--threats to publish said pic's equate to UGAG's undeserved REPUTATION. These pic's are kept as treasure by the nadlicker nation and hinted at each year at the SEC major functions.

They're in the same situation as VPI. They constantly end the season ranked highly with 9-10 win seasons. Until they break that streak, it's hard not to vote them in the top 15. That said, I see uga coming crashing down to earth early and often this year.

Let's hope so. I would like nothing more than to see them go 7-5. I think a lot of it rests on Joe Cox. If he is a flop I doubt their underclassmen have the experience to pull out 10 wins. There are a lot of question marks for them this year.

HOWEVER, one positive they have that will really help them is an experienced O-line. That alone could get them to 10 wins.

IMO, the biggest reason to expect Georgia to be a decent team despite losing Moreno & Stafford:

(1) OL. Last year they had a young & talented OL that was missing it's best player. This year they have that player back and a year playing together. This will be a good unit. There is a strong correlation between good/experienced OL's and winning. UGA has this in their favor.

(2) The cupboard isn't bare. Georgia is deep and has talent to play behind that line.

Of course, we are getting deeper all the time and essentially return our whole offense. We will be a better passing team. If our front seven can man up and stay healthy on defense, and our special teams improve, we will be a very good football team, because our secondary is awesome.

However, if some of the defenses of the SEC are almost as good as they claim they are (they will never be as good as they claim they are) then I can see that lack of a reliable running back to be a problem. Also, did you see their spring game? They didn't score a touchdown until the final seconds of the game with the third stringers out there, and it had nothing to do with their defense.

Does that mean their offense will be that bad in a real game? No, but it means that this offense can very well turn out just average.

What the hell are you all talking about? The dawgs have one of the 12 hardest schedules in the country. We're on it.

...

As for the original question, just remember Tenn the year after Manning left. That was supposed to be a down year. Ugay will be good this year and every year. They've got a good network of money funneling to players, plenty of loose women to give the players and multiple choice tests that have the answers already circled.
