A win is a win.
We could have won by 3 touches except for "problems" but give this bunch credit for overcoming adversity.
The D is playing super. I was disappointed how Durant could complete so many throws over the middle deep (were we in a prevent? 2 deep zone?). With the nickle blitzing so much the safeties gotta put a stop to this. Great pass rush and good play everywhere else. Their running game was not an issue. Houston is a big play guy...
The O-Line was opening nice holes on the running plays, but UNC's D-Line is very suspect. ACE did a great job but needs to hit the hole a little quicker. Holes were there he didn't quite get into. Maybe he needs to cheat up a hair. But a minor flaw in an otherwise great performance. What 140 yards in first start as true freshman? And running with authority. Everyone take a deep breath.
Thank God, we played Bilbo, may have been the turning point in the game. He did look ragged in that last possession before getting yanked, but I still would have liked to have seen him towards the end when everyone knew we were gonna run it. To keep giving him playing time each week will give him more and more experience to eliminate mental mistakes and has to give an opponent fits to have to prepare for basically 2 different offenses.
AJ looked better, needed to sit down and settle down after the INT. Don't know whose fault it was (receiver blew route or not) but ball shouldn't have been thrown. Defender was there in either case. AJ did a great job making the key 1st down throws in the 4Q.
How about Glover and Watkins? Super game. BOB, still looking for that quick slant towards the middle, especially on blitz reads. We've got to start using the whole field...
We build on this and thump Wake on Saturday and we'll be ready for the tough part of the schedule ahead.
