Let's just hope and PRAY that WE don't lose ANYmore players to academics...be they current players or true freshmen. Fortunately our record with new recruits is usually very good since we don't recruit kids unless they're at least good high school students!

Let's just keep our fingers crossed about our current players!!!

Big deal. First, we're in a glass house. Id say it's more embarassing to lose your current players - 10 - than recruits. So I'm not in a hurry to throw rocks. Secondly, UNC is not the barometer of who we need to beat, so them losing some recruits doesn't give me great joy. All it proves is what we all knew from the last two weeks - Carolina is a once great school with great potential led by a weasel of a president and an even dumber football coach.

Big difference.

These guys (NC and NCST) are losing recruits...which means they should have never been recruited in the first place. This just shows further how the other schools have easy curriculum to hide players if they can just get them in under NCAA req's.

We have to recruit kids that are above the NCAA req's. Coach O was allowed to recruit a few more marginal players if they thought the kid could pull it off...but we had a tough time making that work academically in terms of graduating them. So...as of today...the numbers have been pushed back up.

Lastly, if we recruited them we need to find a way to graduate them...or at least stay eligible. This has never been a problem before and our academic counseling system failed the team. It appears massive changes have been made...and lets hope this does not happen again.

just curious, don't the new recruiting regs that do away with SAT scores take affect with this class? Why are they "flunking out"?

The new NCAA reg's diminish the value of the SAT or ACT by applying the old sliding scale again. As the GPA goes up, the test score can go down. From what I saw, the GPA does not have to be that impressive to get a significant drop in test score.

For someone to not qualify now...

Yet another "highly ranked recruiting class" that has loaded up on kids that can't get in.

Some had UNC in nthe top 2 or 3 classes in the conference, along with NC State (who had 13 !?! not yet eligible on signing day).

Once agin, GT and Duke were the only schools in the conference who had all players eligible on signing day.

When people complain about rankings of classes, they should always consider what the class will look like when kids report in August.

Of course, if can't keep the kids eligible, that is another problem unto itself

The good news for those kids is that they can always go to Ugag and teach.
