to put stock in the fact that we are 4-2 halfway through is naive.

The fact that UVA beat Clemson may mean they are BETTER than Clemson. That would mean our 4 toughest games lay ahead of us and I AINT COUNTIN the turtles.

Most of us thought this was a good thing with the hope that we would progress and by the 2nd half we would be a better ball club. Are we a better team?

If we are not it will certainly show tonight. What strides we had made in the NC game were erased with the Wake loss.

If we lose tonight smart money is that we finish sub .500. I feel that our offensive scheme is not compatible with our players. We have a QB that cannot run our offense. We do not have the option package installed and we are over halfway through the season. That is pathetic.

To understand how our offensive coaches have failed you must understand that Wake essentially beat us running 3 or 4 different plays.

We would be better off just putting in a QB that can run the option and practicing that for 10 days straight. Option and option formation passes would provide more potency then we have seen from our offense all year.

We may be able to win with our current scheme but that will be assuming certain variables that have not occurred this year.

We will see tonight what our head coach has learned from the first 6 games. I have been willing to shoulder the majority of the blame on Billy in our first half of the season, after all we shoved him down CG's throat. But if our offense fails tonight I think we will need to evaluate our head coaches performance. IMO

That pretty much sums it up. I don't understand why Gailey is so committed to Suggs. Football, like life, is a game of adjustments. Making the changes that are necessary to succeed as the opponent makes changes too. If he's better at it than you, you lose, simple as that. And right now, I see a team that could and should be undefeated because the tools are there to make the adjustments and we simply aren't doing it and that's coaching. I want to like Gailey and there are many things about him that I do like, but right now I'm just not sure he's flexible enough to make the right changes when they are needed. We'll find out a lot tonight.

just maybe since he has had a stint with the cowboys and has all that pro background he may not feel the sense of urgency that we loyal tech followers feel. if that is the case he is sadly mistaken,he will get burned in effigy.

Honestly, what changes do you want him to make? Player wise, we have injuries and depth issues because of this. Face it, Bilbo isn't quite ready to be the starter. If he was, I have no doubt he would be in the game. Even Andy Hall didn't have the playbook down. But when he did play it was vanilla. He threw some nice, easy routes and ran the option..like Bilbo. Obviously, some coaching decisions need to be addressed and I think this staff will address them. But at the end of the day, its the players who have to step up on the field. They are the ones who block, tackle, catch, throw, etc. Hopefully, the time off has helped both the coaches and players. I expect us to play well tonight, maybe not get a win, but we play well.

Yes, I want to win now too, but this team has faced a lot of adversity in the last 2 seasons. Its coming around, just not quite as fast as we would all like to see.

GO JACKETS!!

Win or lose, we drink the booze!

if we go .500 or below I want a new offensive coordinator at the very least

This is really going far out, but it is a remote possibility.

It is a fact Gailey's overall performance is based on his assistants performance. It is an utmost priority for him to make immediate changes when needed.

He has stated that he would let his assistants have the freedom to run their own game and call their own plays. For this very reason, he needs to make immediate changes when they are needed.

Now, the remote possibility. First, I state it would have been better for Gailey if he had cleaned house and gotten rid of the assistants that had already made it known they would leave for Notre Dame.

O'Brien even tried to get on at other places (the pro teams we know of) after the Notre Dame opportunity fell through. With this in mind and his willingness to leave, he had no choice but to stay at Tech after everyone turned him down.

The possibility exists that it matters little to him if Gailey succeeds, especially, since he is an O'leary man. If Gailey does not do well, it will not hurt O'Brien as much as Gailey and it will tend to make O'Leary look better.

As I said this is far out, but you never know. I say Gailey had better keep a close eye on this situation.

Okay, bring on the cat calls.

You're right in some regards. I agree with the cleaning house theory. I was/am one that believed BOB needed to move on. I don't believe by any stretch that Gailey is going to let his assistants bring him down. If the season ends badly, you'll see some major assistant changed. You may see it anyways.

Remember, we may not know all that much about Gailey, but he has the respect of many great NFL players and coaches...Aikman, Smith, Cowher, Stewart, etc. This guy isn't a dummy and even though I wasn't thirlled at the time, I now think he was a great hire and look forward to the future of Tech football.

Just an opinion..

We were all delighted that BO'B stayed, weren't we?

How'd he get so dumb so quick?

BOB has a LOT to prove to even be considered a good college coordinator. I really don't understand why everyone from GT fans to NFL head coaches were falling all over this guy last year.

We are in serious trouble and not all of it is the coaches fault but a major part can be laid at their feet. BOB has totally junked the option that was our bread and butter under Ralph. The option sorta equalizes things especially when you don't have an overpowering team. I really don't expect
us to win but the Duke game and that is not a gimme. I hope that I will be proven wrong but I don't like what I am seeing on Saturday's and reading. CG seems so casual about our situation
when it seems the wheels are coming off the wagon.

it is possible we were duped by Goose's success.

If you have a SUPER smart QB that was trained by someone else it can make you look like a genius.

This year BO'B has had Bilbo and Suggs to train and create a successful Div 1 QB. It was BO'B chance to shine.

This creation has not occured as of yet. My point is that ultimately we need to hold the Head Coach accountable for the team's success or failure.

I totally agree law bee. The lights are not shining too bright at the old homestead.

Bellyseries, I made it plain from the beginning, I did not think BOB had established anything. I gave the credit to Godsey being a smart quarterback, and, even he could not avert the five losses we had last year with a team selected to be in the top ten.

I read other similar posts from both boards about the reservations of BOB. Many thought he should have moved on after last year. Of course, the dissenting posters were scorned on the Hive by the elite.
