Just wondering if anyone had some up to date news on some of our top prospects....Foster, J. Jones, Luallen, B. Smith, Lutzenkirchen, Telfort, J. Lanier,
Mitchell-Thornton, Gilliard, I. Cross, etc...

Any updates???

Foster...we lead big-time, his only worry is whether our blocking style will prep him for the NFL.

JJones- not going to happen

Luallen- We have a big lead...could commit soon

BSmith- a national recruit...this one will take awhile to read.

Lutzenkirchen- will probably pick Auburn on May 16

Telfort- national recruit..longshot even though we are in top 5 as we really only want one more LB and are much closer on Thornton and Gilliard (but would take both).

Lanier- committed to GT

Thornton-Mitchell- intelligent kid and a ballhawk that is the prototypical LB. Fits GT perfectly and will likely end up at GT if he does not wait too long. He is spending a lot of time investigating the academic side of all of his options.

Gilliard- who knows when he commits somewhere, but he does say he wants to before fall. Florida, Georgia, GaTech battle.

We look good with Izaan Cross...we should end up with him before fall.

Looking good with QB's other than Luellan like Sims, Aycock, and even national recruit Banks.

Hoping to land David Wilson at AB...too early to tell.

Lots of athletes being looked at that can play WR.

Looking good with OL Will Jackson. Still evaluating OL's and do not have a ton of offers out there yet relative to need.

At DT we will take another in Tay Irvin if we can get him.

Still in the mix with a lot of DE's other than Cross...none pop out though as near commits.

At LB we are done with either Gilliard and/or Thornton...or both. Telfort would have to just happen as more attention is being focused elsewhere.

National recruits like Darren Myles Jr. and Branden Smith will cause a wait game. Also have offer out to
Kejuan Riley of Wetumpka, AL...and a couple other national type Georgia recruits.

Look for another round of offers to go out soon to athletes that coule be AB's, WR's, or DB's.

Hiveredtech- Thanks for the indepth and current breakdown of these recruits...very much apreciated!
Sounds like we are well on the way to gathering up some GREAT recruits!

Thanks for the info hiveredtech! I dont see how you guys keep up with everybody we recruit but i sure do appreciate it.

I second the thanks Hivered for the analysis. What are you thoughts on these:

I like Jahron Brown a lot for Bee-Back. Are we going after him hard, and if so, what do you think about our chances?

Daniel Drummond has also been mentioned a lot for Bee-Back. Is he someone we're keeping close and may offer later?

Braxton Lane seems like he'd be a superb fit at A-Back. What do you think about our chances with him? Other interesting possibilities here are Daniel Jenkins from Cali, and the Chamblee RB Warren Norman.

What's the deal with CB Kenneth Gilstrap? Plenty of speed, but I don't think we've offered. Is it a matter of grades or maybe we're just going after other options?

Gilliard's teamate, Foster seems to be very high on us for OL as well.

A couple more interesting RB possibilities are Orwin Smith from AL and Dasarte Yarnway from Cali, though I'm not sure if they'd be Bee-Backs or A-backs. I would guess Bee-backs.

The good thing about those QB's who are high on us is that we could take every one of them because they will all be great recruits at other positions of need if they don't win the QB job.

Were going to watch daniel drummond is his spring pratices. Then i think we will offer. Everytime i see the kid im just so impressed how well he is built for a high school kid. I think he will be a great player in college. All the georgias fan think there going to land gilliard but there not. Gilliard is leading them on then hes going to pull out from under them. His teammate foster will commit soon i think. He really likes us. Nigel mitchell thorton better hurry and commit if hes goin to. The linebacker spot will not be open much longer. Also jordan luallen really likes us. Anybody heard anything about ej banks?

all of those kids you mention are guys we talk to regularly and are tracking closely...some could get offers soon.

Orwen Smith has an offer from us as an AB...he also has offers from Auburn and Alabama from his home state.

Drummond, JBrown, and Yarnway are supposedly all BB's...although Yarnway is the smallest of the 3. JBrown is attracting a lot of attention with his impressive film.

You mention Braxton Lane and Kenneth Gilstrap...and we are in touch with them on a regular basis. Braxton has some GPA issues to work through as I understand it...that is probably the only reason he does not have an offer from us as he scored a 23 on the ACT.

People are also anxious to see if we offer Warren Norman anytime soon.

Smith and Yarnway are interesting RB recruits this year as they seem to fit the PJ/Tashard mold of medium sized running back. With most of the other recruits (eg Richard Watson, Jahron Brown, Embry Peeples, Warren Norman, etc.), it's been obvious which position they fit. With a few this year, it isn't as obvious. It probably would have been the same way if we were recruiting Dwyer now. Some of these RB's are obviously good players that we want in our offense somewhere, but it will continue to be interesting when there is a 'tweener that could go either way.

Side note: I just watched one of W.Norman's videos on Rivals, and he seems like he'd be a great get at A-Back.

I know its been explained on here before but is the difference between an A-Back and B-Back? B-Back is more like an FB correct?

Neither is like a FB in the sense that a FB is a blocking back. The B-Back is the guy who will run the dive play up the middle on the triple option (lined up directly behind the QB). This guy is usually what you call a HOSS of a RB - meaning big, tough runner, but doesn't necessarily sacrifice speed for those traits. He will usually get the most carries. Think Jim Brown or Eddie George.

The A-Back is lined up as a wing back a yard outside of and a yard behind the offensive tackle. He is usually the pitch man on the triple option but will also be utilized a lot in the passing game (and as a blocker). This is typically a scat-back type - speed, quickness, and moves are the name of the game (as well as hands and effectivness as a blocker). Think Barry Sanders or Reggie Bush.

Bback = BIG running back (lined up like a FB)
Aback = Shifty and very fast running back (lined up in the wing, also can line up at slot receiver)

I really cant see why we havent offered norman. But i think we will. My wish list 1 jordan luallen2 and 3 valdosta boys4 izzan cross5 warren norman

Now i finally see what it is. Thanks. Im trying to post more. I want to be dodd like.
