USCwest forfeiting timeouts to where RED jerseys....

I think it would be a cool look to have both teams in their home unis. Didn't Tech and UGAg do that a couple times during the late 60s/early 70s.

As a side note, what kind of stupid effin rule is this???

Carroll said on Monday that the Trojans would wear their cardinal red home jerseys on Saturday at the Rose Bowl. That violates an NCAA rule that requires visiting teams to wear white, and the infraction will cost him two timeouts, one per half.

I love how Carroll is basically giving the Pac 10 the finger on this rule.

I was about to post this, but looks like I got beat. While I enjoy the aesthetics and the return to tradition, I'm not entirely convinced that it's a great idea to tell your team that you don't need your timeouts. Yes, USC should walk all over UCLA, but stranger things have happened.

It is a stupid NCAA rule though. Even odder that it only applies to the visiting team.

You know USC's gonna lose this game, with the clock ticking down before they could get a field goal off on their last drive. That's just how things work usually.

I hope UCLA wins and makes Petey look like a dumbass.

This is such a Richt-move.

I'm serious, just coach and STFU.

lol, all this faux-outrage is ridiculous for someone who talked with the opposing coach and agreed as a pair to re-enact an old tradition. The rule's going to get repealed anyway, so who cares.

I think this is pretty hilarious. Has to be a direct response to Neuheisel's preseason antics in the paper. I hope USC beats them by 90.

This type of rule was put into effect to keep two teams from showing up wearing the same color jerseys, like two teams with red jerseys on. I also remember the difficulty telling two teams with "dark" jerseys on while watching TV once (think black and white TV). The only way you could tell the players apart was their helmets.

It is a rule whose time has probably passed....

Speaking of colors, Boise State shouldn't be allowed to wear blue jerseys at home. Their players are damn invisible on that field.

But it doesn't say if they lose the TO in the 1st half or 2nd half. If it's lost in the 1st half, who gives a ratz azz?

I'm pretty sure it's one per half. And scoring late in the first half can easily be the key to a game. Especially if you get a two for one deal with the ball to start the second half.

Nah, if you saw the Illinois/Wisconsin basketball game either 2 or 3 years ago where UI wore orange and UW wore red it was basically impossible to watch.

While I hate both SC and UCLA, I'm all about tradition and I think this is a good one since they both are in the LA area it is essentially a home game for both(although not as much so as when they both played at the colusium). It also works for these 2 teams since UCLA's home color is a light blue and SC's home color is a dark red. We are essentially doing this with UGA now that we went back to white home jerseys.
