Didn't we use one last time we were looking for a coach, or was that just for the AD replacement? How much leeway would DRad have in brining in whoever he wants, as quickly as he wants? Is there a process and procedure that he must follow (as in, minimum number of interviews, minority candidates, etc)? Or does he just have free reign to do what he wants?

We had a search committee for Gailey. If he were to leave right now though....Clough would have go get off his bureaucratic rear and let Rad make a quick decision...no search committees.

We may not have a committee per se, but I would be surprised if D Rad wasn't talking to Clough and some others about who he's interested in and what he wants to do if Chan leaves. We don't have time to screw around.

I believe there has been a meeting already and possible coaching replacements have been approved so DRAd can conduct the interviews himself and make a hire. I believe also that Fisher has already been contacted as early as last week about his interest int he job and has given us a yes, but DRad needs to get approval from the committee to hire him, which may or may not have already happened.

Drad has said he will not do any formal interviews until he knows we do not have a HC. That is the right thing to do. However, feelers have been put out as to who would want to formally interview.

That being said...there are not a lot of folks out there this year.

You gotta wonder if the powers that be at least have the same inclinations as the rest of us fans. Like, will Paul Johnson be considered by them since he's thought of fairly highly on the boards as a good fit for GT.

This is where the REAL power plays. What could be more intoxicating for a alumni sports power-broker than having say in who is fired or hired.Of course you need to bring big bucks besides smooth talk to get your thoughts considered.
I wonder who is in Rad's confidence?

DRad had indicated you can't cater to any one, or small group, of alumni...because then you just alienate someone else. Therefore he listens to all input and makes his own decision.

There is always someone threatening to hold back contributions...or saying they will give more.

Sounds like D-Rad learned a few lessons from watching Auburn's power hungry alums. They almost lost one of the better coaches/recruiters in the country thanks to that one alum.

Remember he was at LSU when Saban left so he's seen this up close and personal.
