USF Hires Charlie Strong

His buyout will be reduced since he took another position. Doesn't matter though. He's still rich.

Bad hire.

Guy had is a sub .500 coach outside of this two Bridgewater years.

Some guys are coordinators.

He won't destroy the program, but he will have them hovering around .500 every year.

My thoughts as well. Maybe he'll end up having a 10-win season or two but I don't see Power Chuck taking them into the top 20 with any regularity.

I agree about the recruiting. i think he will do well without the overbearing Texas booster culture and especially at a school in Florida

Good hire because it is USF and not a P5. He will recruit well. Gonna be a cushy job compared to Texas.
Yeah, I like it for both school and coach. Kind of a homecoming, lot less stress, good recruiting, the Tampa Bay area is a nicer part of the world than Louisville or Austin or most anywhere else he could've wound up working for some other HC. Plus they love him already. Good luck to Cholly!

Agreed. I don't get the love-affair some folks have with this guy. He's been a bum as a HC with the exception of the Teddy years, where Teddy made him look competent.

Louisville was 15-21 in the three years prior to Strong's arrival. His first two 'mediocre' years there were still better than what they had been experiencing since Petrino left. He's now back in the same conference. They won't be a perennial top 25 team because, uh, they've never been that, but I wouldn't be surprised if he has averaging ~8 wins a year with an occasional chance of finishing atop the group of 5.

Agreed.
He won't need to win 12 games every year to be considered a success.
A 10 win season mixed amongst several 8-9 win seasons and he'll be revered.
Sounds familiar.

He will be better because of schedule. Basically his L'ville years were against a weakened Big East schedule.

He'll do better at USF since he's back in familiar territory, recruiting-wise.

He is more accomplished than just about anyone they could realistically get or afford. If he does well, he can either stay there for life or take another shot at a P5 job. Lots of upside for both parties IMO.

Stingtalk sounds like a girl who's "happy" for a guy finding a new girlfriend, but who's also glad she's not as hot as Stingtalk and will be keeping his number in her cell.
