Out of 24 Letters of Intent signed last Feb, UVa will only get 16 of them in the Fall semester. Pretty poor management of LOIs by Al Groh & staff. It's extremely close to being on 'probation' & losing scholarships.
Six of the ACCs 12 teams have 11 or more verbal commits right now. Coach Friedgen says that football should have an early signing period, but Coach Beamer feels it'll never happen. Here's quite a good look at what the early commitments are doing to college football from Pilotonline.com of Hampton Roads, Va.

Groh's honeymoon is about to end..He's like the gal you picked up at 2AM in a bar and then saw her in the sunlight at 6AM!!

Thing is UVA had a low rated class EVEN WITH these eight NQs. At least with our rankings the past few years, I was comforted by how many players in the classes above us wouldn't qualify.

I've heard it called the "Curse of Scott Sisson," as UVA has never realized their full potential since that field goal went in. Now, their prospects have gotten quite dim and they look to go the way of NC State pretty soon.

Another thing, in response to these non-qualifiers, Groh said STTE "this class went according to plan." Well, that's what you call a gimme if we're ever recruiting against them in the future.
