Yikes, that game is going to get ugly quick. Having to put guys days out of high school against Semi-Pro team Bama, not good.

So, I was taking a wait and see approach with this game. However, they've jumped the shark now.

Now, it's up to Clemson and UNC to get the ACC some respect because the chokies are going to get whipped.

I give up. Bama rolls.

Did you ever seriously think that it wasnt going to be a complete beatdown by Bama?

I have made past predictions: some good some bad.

But one of the predictions I made before last season was that VT was going to be total crap that season. And they were.

Even before injuries, VT had EVEN LESS to work with this year than last year.

VT will get pounded by UNC, Miami, GT, and likely wont beat Pitt either.

Not gonna argue, more discuss...

Clearly VT's defense was down last year. An ultra-rare hiccup for Bud Foster. If he has a subpar defense two years in a row, then the Hokies are in big trouble. I'm just not gonna expect them to have another bad defensive year. I'm gonna expect them to have a decent defense, and if their o continues to progress, they have the veteran leadership (old QB) over there to be in contention.

VT may not score on offense a TD on Bama.

They will be very bad again this year. Possibly ending the bowl streak.

Look at their schedule though:
WCU
Marshall
@ECU
@BC
Maryland
Duke
@UVA

That's 7 games they'll be heavy favorites in. They could drop two of those (which would be baaad) and still only need to win one of Bama/GT/UNC/Miami/Pitt. This could be VTs worst team in a decade and they still will probably make a bowl with that cake schedule. You give GT that schedule and I think we are the Coastal favorites with a +\- of 9 wins.

Been watching college FB for a good while and I've seen this scenario before. Unbeatable juggernaught coming off unbelievable season stubs its toe against a respectable team its not familiar with.

Not really drawing a comparison but possible the worst GT team in history went into Tuscaloosa to start the 1981 season against pre-season #1 Alabama and GT won (our only win that season).

So, was I predicting a VT win? No. Was I ruling a VT win out as impossible? Again, no. Would a VT win be the biggest upset anybody can remember? Not even close.

I hate the idea of the ACC going 0-3 against the SEC the first day of the season so cut me a little slack if I choose not to stock up on butthurt futures on the ACC's imminent beatdown by the SEC.

Uh, its impossible. VT will get crushed.

Like another poster stated, VT may not even score an offensive TD.

VT vs Bama
North Carolina vs USCe
Clemson vs UGAG

IMO, the Clemson & UNC games will both be close.

It's not impossible. I mean I don't think VT pays their players(like AL does...) but they do pay their coaches and Bud Foster is a good coach.

The perception that you have of Bama vs VT is the same perception people of had of us in the Sun Bowl but we all know how that turned out...

Unlikely? Hell yes. Impossible? Hell no.

I don't believe VT will be heavy favorites in several of those games on game week.

They were still. 18 in total d and 31 in scoring d. And they crapped the bed against some big east teams. I predicted a few weeks ago that vpi wouldnt score,but a rushing qb is a bama question mark.
