in addition to all the used up eligibility players already gone. "January is shaping up to be the most forgettable month in the history of UVa athletics" says Jay Jenkins of the Charlottesville Daily Progress. Several players have not enrolled in school this semester including Starting So QB Jameel Sewell, starting RJr CB Chris Cook & 2 non starting RFr.

Now comes the report that the Cavaliers have lost starting Soph DE Jeffery Fitzgerald for unspecified reasons. Coach Groh will have his hands full as the Cavs are getting decimated. Virginia also loses their DC.

What's up with Sewell and company? Has there been some drastic change at UVA I missed?

Al Groh will be the next ACC coach fired.

Yep. Everybody else either has a new coach, or a coach with tenure. (e.g. he's essentially unfireable in the near future) Lets go down the list.

BC has a new coach who's done well.
Fridge has tenure for at least 2 more losing seasons
Beamer has tenure.
Grobe has tenure.
State has a new coach.
Duke has a new coach.
UNC has a new coach who's won National Championships before.
Tech has a new coach.
Bowden Sr. has tenure.
Miami has a new coach.

The only guy who might get fired before Groh is Bowden Jr. at Clemson, if they get the "we're stuck in mediocrity" disease, which IMO would be a mistake for them.

And seriously, Virginia was just extremely extremely lucky this year. They were a very bad football team for whom the ball "bounced the right way" about ten times a game. Look at the final scores of their games this past year, and how many teams missed field goals and whatnot in the final seconds vs them. They're doomed. I bet Duke does better than them in 2008.
