VPI to run down Clemson's hill

WTF...Because of the Shootings?

I feel as bad as the next person about the VPI incident. However, why does this have to translate into red carpet pageantry every time the football team takes the field? I don’t know about you all, but I hope that Clemson wins this game. Besides the fact that I like Clemson more than VPI, a win by the Tigers will help our chances of a Coastal Division Championship. The shootings were a tragic thing, but can the rest of the football nation please move on. I hope we don’t let the Wreck lead them out on the field or something like that. I don’t know…Maybe, I am just an insensitive prick.

At this point it's gone past honoring the dead. Now it's exploiting the dead for a tactical and media advantage. I hope they lose out. Truly disgusting.

Has this been confirmed by anyone in an official capacity with Clemson? That one is hard to believe and I fail to see what symbolic gesture that is intended to produce. I'm in the "enough already" camp with regards to VT.

I totally agree....the football team at vippeesue....is their football team....do what they want in their stadium...a moment of silence is all that is needed. It is just too much and it is time to move on....other than let their team captain ride out in our Wreck onto the field for the Thursday night game...yeh, right!:thumbdn:

Well, we have to do something. I do think the players running down the hill is a little much. LSU played vpi's alma mater, which I thought was pushing it. I would think their players are getting fed up with it and just want to be a football team again, instead of a sob story.

This is the advantage these teams are getting out of stroking vpi.

By the time they come to Bobby Dodd, we need to have a simple gesture and then just play football. Oh, and have a giant rap star play at halftime. Yes, that should do it.

I heard they are going to have the wreck bring out their team as well.

In VTs defense it was probably a gesture by Clemson (and a nice one, at that). If anyone is looking for good publicity by this move, it's Clemson not VT.

The Clemson fans will not be happy with this if it's true.

Why don't they just wear VT's home uniforms while they're at it?

That's a joke, right?

Yes, he heard it in a post earlier in this thread.

I'll be going to Clemson and rooting for them...should be fun, Death Valley at night looked really fun last year...for the Clemson people. I didn't have too much fun in the GT section.

I've been to the last 3 GT / Clemson games at DV and I'll continue to go as long as it's possible.

I would like to go and be a neutral observer at some point - I think Clemson and Auburn have something set up in the future. Maybe I'll try to catch that one.

Yeah, I'm pretty excited about it. Tailgating all day long and then going to that game with the incredible pregame atmosphere and everybody wearing orange and participating in the chants...it just looks like so much fun. Hopefully I get good seats; I'm going with my dad and some of his Clemson alumni friends, don't know where the seats are.

Ridiculous imo. The shootings were back in April and they have absolutely NOTHING to do with football. Get on with life for God's sake.

The more we do this "honoring", the more we remember that awful day. Just forget about it and move on; life is far too short to sit around pondering past events over which we have no control.

I really thought the Vick negatives

would damper some of the massacre melodrama......but I guess I was wrong.

Actually I didn't read that post, but it is the same thought.
