BC is #2. VT is #8 in the computers while the computers have BC #1. VT opens a 3 point fav. Assuming they win, and they should in Blacksburg at night, they will be in the top 5 most likely next week when GT plays them.

The way this season is going with the underdog consistently covering and the home underdog consistently winning, GT will have the chance to knock VT out of the top 5 and perhaps end their chance at the National Title game.

Based on who has to play whom, VT would likely rise to #2 or #3 in the BCS standings if they and LSU won out. Ohio State needs to win out to have a chance bcause of that schedule and OK needs to win out because the computers aren't very impressed with them.

If BC can win in Blacksburg, I think they'll play for the NC as I just don't see MIA or FSU being able to win up there and I doubt a Coastal team could beat them in Jax.

It would seem that way. Other than @VT this Thursday --11/17 @Clemson is the only game BC could possibly lose --and that's doubtful.

Interesting that both BC & VT are coming off of bye weeks --I'm looking forward to this game.

Aren't both teams coming off of bye weeks in every Thursday night game? Or do teams actually play games on four days rest?

You've got a good point --and perhaps a valid one too. Although I do seem to remember some mid-major team that played on --I want to say Monday night this season-- had some screwy scheduling where they played 3 games in 12 days or something like that.

added: It was Memphis --but it was also under extenuating circumstances due to the campus shooting of a Memphis football player earlier this season.

9/22 @Cent. Florida
9/27 @Arkansas State
10/2 vs-Marshall

USF and Rutgers just played on 4/5 days rest and the week and before that SC and UK played on the same rest. when this happens, the home team almost always wins which is why unfortunately for me, USF will not be playing in the BCS game.

USF is BTW #5 in the computers so if the humans would give them the credit they deserve they would have an excellent chance at still playing for it all. If AUB had held on to beat LSU last night, USF would likely have been #2 or #3 in the computers and still not in the top 10 in the voters minds.

Yes, but most of the time teams try to schedule a bye to avoid the short week.

VT's national championship hopes ended when they were destroyed by LSU.
