VT has played only 1 true road game this year. We need the guy who made that schedule.

I am going to assume that the Georgia Dome crowd was at least 70% Bama fans. But BDS will be much louder than the Dome was.

... But BDS will be much louder than the Dome was.

I doubt it... being inside a dome is crazy loud. BDS isn't really built for sound.

I will admit though, Clemson's last drive this year was the loudest I've ever heard it, next to maybe the goal-line stand vs. Maryland in '06, and TJ Yates blamed the crowd noise for that missed snap saying that the center couldn't hear the snap count or cadence.

I'd be willing to bet we have the loudest stadium with only 50k in it.

Everyone is so packed in close to the field that it really can get pretty loud in there...certainly enough to affect the play on the field, as we've seen numerous times. We need that the whole game on Saturday.

The two times I've been there for college fooball games it hasn't been as loud as BDS. Remember, Notre Dame players said BDS was the loudest stadium they had played in.

I was at the BAMA/VT game at the Dome this year. It was pretty loud, and about 55% Bama fans. Just enough to have a majority. They really do their best to sell the tickets right down the middle.

In that case, I going to say that the 50k at BDS will be much louder than the 50k at the Dome.

The way the tickets are sold for the kickoff classic is split down the middle of the field. So VT was on one side Bama on the other. In this situation noise would only be coming from one direction. This Saturday at BDS there should be 360 degrees of noise.

BDS at field level is most definitely built for sound, particularly as you approach the endzones.

The top spills sound, but at field level it gets freaking loud.

yeah I'll retract my statement. It can get pretty loud in BDS, and I definitely think it's the loudest ~60K person stadium. When a team is trying to score in the north endzone, that student section/Swarm is raucous.

I wasn't at the UM 06 game so I can't comment, but I couldn't hear myself think on Clemson's last drive this year. I have to believe that this game will be louder:

(1) Saturday night - lots of tailgating effect
(2) Homecoming - big partisan crowd
(3) Biggest game of the year so far

Could be the perfect storm. Man, I hope so.

I saw Pat Swilling cover the ear holes in his helmet due to pain from the noise.

UM was louder than Clemson was by a good bit. It was absolutely crazy. It was definitely the loudest I've heard BDS(although I've only been going for five years now.)
