Wake can't sell their ACCCG Tickets

When you think about it, imagine how small WF's fan base must be. I believe they have the third smallest enrollment of Div. 1 schools. It must be hard for them to sell tickets anywhere outside the state of NC.

Here in Knoxville, months in advance people leave their calendars open on the first week of December in anticipation that UT will be playing in the SEC CG. I don't imagine too many WF fans expected to be traveling to Jax this weekend. With only a week's notice that it would really happen, little history of football aspirations, and a student/alumni base that is maybe 1/3 of ours, WF will need a lot of sidewalk fans to make a decent showing. The Cinderella angle is the best thing going for them. Unfortunately for WF, we are somewhat of a Cinderella as well.

I think I remember hearing that they only have something like 15k living alumni (around 1/4 of what we have I think), and like you said no tradition of being anything more than middle/lower team in a less than spectacular, until recent years, conference.

Ill really be suprised and impressed if they sell their allotment, but they've got a lot going agianst them.

doh, maybe the upper 40k number about us was in the state, can't remember. 100k seems high though, but I don't know enough to argue :)

From the ACC Website:

"Tickets are also available through the participating institutions. To sit in your team's section, you can purchase tickets from your school's ticket athletics office.
Georgia Tech (Allotment is sold out)

Let's cut 'em a break - from what I've heard, they've sold about 70% of their allotment without the benefit of knowing they'd be in the game for a month (like us).

I may be the only guy in the world who is in both the Deacon Club and gives money both to Tech's general fund and the AA.(GT grad that lives in Winston- Salem). People here are absolutely ecstatic about the Deacon's year but without great tradition and a large central alumni base, not buying their allotment should come to no surprise.

For the record, I am White and Gold thru and thru but it has been a heckuva year for Coach Grobe and his kids.

To be honest I'll be surprised if Wake doesn't sell their allotment. I know several people who are still trying to figure out how to get down there for the game. Maybe they will come up short, but I'm not sold on that yet.
