Wake Forest is pretty darn badass

I loved that whipping that Wake put on fsu.I love their approach and execution.Grobe may be National coach of yr.This is WAKE.A 3000 student difficult private school with NO tradition in the middle of nowhere. How much tougher does it get? They deserve EVERY kudo given.
AND they lost the first unit QB at start of season. The 2nd/3rd unit guy is doing it.Does Tech even have a 2nd unit QB that can do more than hand off vs Samford.btw- Samford got ripped 55-7 by Jacksonville ST last wk.
I love the story.

Wake is a very good team, and well disciplined, but when it comes down to it Tenutas defense will keep us in the game and the combination of Choice and the Johnsons will win it for us, should we play.

Agreed about Grobe though, big props to the man, he's got a lot going agianst him and is a fluke quarter away from undefeated.

With how good Wake is playing right and how bad we are playing right now, Wake is definitely going to be the favorite going into the ACCC. (Note that I am assuming Wake wins out).

I've watched a lot of Wake, and I'm very concerned with our ability to stop their offense, because we swarm to the ball and they prey on overpursuit. Expect them to score at least 17 on offense, and I don't need to remind you guys that our offense gives 10 to 14 to the opponent semi regularly.

I will be very interested to see how WF fares this weekend, putting the 30-0 stomping of FSU (on the road) behind them to get ready for what could be their toughest game of the year, VT. They do get them at home, but it will still be a test for them, as will the following week @ Maryland.

There has been talk about the ACC being down, mainly because the likes of UM, FSU and VT being down. Well, UM and FSU are certainly having seasons well below their expectations. But other than losing to GT and BC, two very good teams this year, VT is having a fine year.

The next two weeks will tell me a lot about WF. They are a good team, as is Maryland.

No win situation.

We are screwed if we play Wake in the ACCCG. If we win, its only a win against Wake. Perception will be that the ACCCG is a complete joke. If we lose.. well we lost to Wake. Sorry but you all better pray that they do not go to the ACCCG its a no win situation for us if they do.

This is flat-out wrong. Wake is the real deal and will richly deserve the spot in the ACCCG should they beat VT.

OTOH, BOR is correct: Perception is reality and its a no win situation for us if Wake goes to the CG.

Did I say that clearly? The perception of Wake being a weak team is wrong, but BOR's assesment of that perception is correct.

Last year maybe...but other than the Miami game it is our special teams that gives the other team points by either giving up the TD or letting them to midfield after our offense scores.

I don't think Wake can handle a Choice between the two Johnsons. Especially if Cox is opening up holes and and Ball is going deep with the Johnsons.

I Have To Agree With You On This One beej ....

it is very impressive what they have accomplished this year. A small private school, high entrance standards, small fan base, no national recognition. Then they lost their starters at QB and RB. Except for one bad quarter against Clemson they would be undefeated. Grobe has been building that program for years and has done an unbelievable job getting a winning system establsihed and instilling the players with a winning attitude. I think we will have our hands full if they make it to Jax.

Did you watch NC State?

VThug will beat Wake this week and Maryland will be BC so I would not worry about Wake. You know VThug will get all the calls in that game since the ACC does not want Wake in the ACCCG. Ratings nightmare.

Don't think so beej. I can remember 14 points off the top of my head that the offense has given up this year. Please enlighten me on the rest.

The thing that scares me about Wake is the way they run their offense. It's nothing but misdirection and a bunch of trick plays. That might have a bad effect on our quick swarming defense.

That being said, I would still put my money on the Jackets, because I think our defense is disciplined enough to adapt.

What do you guys think?
