I think it is time to stop dwelling in the past and look to the future.

GT wins 21-14

I'm going to be hopeful on this one.

31-13

Every time I get to doubting GT football, they surprise me big. I.E: Miami last year.

I think we run the ball down their throats all day. Deuce has an insane 180-200 yard game, and scores 3 TDs. The defense holds strong, gives up only on TD, on some BS play probably.

Reggie makes us feel better by throwing the fade to Calvin for another TD. We win the ACC and the Orange Bowl. I fail all my finals, and equilibrium is restored.

That was Gailey's offense that you saw last Saturday. Nix is out; Gailey is in.

WF wins.

Huh?

The only time we did anything right on Saturday was when we ran the ball out of the I. Reggie completely failed to run the Nix Spread Offense. With Gailey calling the plays we might have run even more, and stayed on the field. The counter-run game worked great.

Hang the loss on whatever you want, but not on the playcalling being too conservative. If anything it was too liberal, with a QB who couldn't execute it.

Earlier in the year we occasionally threw to the TE. We occasionally threw to the FB.
We occasionally threw over the middle.
We ran QB draws that kept the safeties honest.

Saturday we did not place any pass coverage responsibilities on Georgia's LBs.

Georgia only had to defend 2/3 of the field on passing plays, except for the roll outs, when they only had to defend 1/3 of the field. The safeties could cheat to one side of the field on passing plays and not worry about the middle.

The LBs have no coverage responsibilities, and the safeties have easy responsibilities. No wonder the QB looks bad.

This is the same passing offense that we have seen the last four years. The plays may have been run out of Nix's formations, but they were spot on with the Gailey philosophy that has produced number 90 or worse passing offenses during his entire tenure.

This scheme puts tremendous pressure on a QB. Suggs looked bad in it, Reggie looked bad in it, and the successor will look bad in it.

We did run one QB draw that I recall, which was the now famous fumble.

Despite what you say, the passing game was extremely conservative and predictable, which made Georgia's job easy and Reggie's job hard. Reggie had a horrible night, but the design of the offense did not help.

Blake Mitchell had a bad day against Clemson, but Spurrier put 31 points up in spite of it. Our staff would have put up 7.

One TD against Georgia, one against UNC and one against Clemson. That's not all Reggie's fault. The offense we ran against UVa and VT has evaporated.

GT 28 WAKE 12:bowdown:

defense steps up big time angry, and reggie shows up for at least 1&1/2 quarters, because he's been dissed and disrespected (deservedly) all week.
disrespect is his only motivational tool.
TC WILL ROLL, AND NIX WILL SEE TO IT CALVIN GETS THE BALL THIS TIME.
then on to miami.

I don't entirely agree with that.

Against UVa we had one sustained drive resulting in a TD, an 11 play 84 yarder. Our other 3 scoring drives:

- 4 plays, 4 yards and a FG
- 1 play, 58 yards bomb to Calvin TD
- 4 plays, 77 yards bomb to Calvin TD

Against VT one sustained drive of 11 plays and 74 yards, half of which was a long pass to Calvin. The others:

- 5 plays 80yds, including 59 yd bomb to JJ TD
- 3 plays 62 yards bomb to Calvin TD
- 4 plays 25 yards all runs TD
- Fumble recovery for a TD
- 5 plays 36 yards TD

The difference between the UVa and VT games and say the ND, UNC, and UGa games is hitting the long pass.

It's kind of like living by the 3 and dying by the 3. We live by the big play and die by the big play.

No way Tech can match the experience of the Wake team. This is a banner year for Wake and unfortunately they are going to seal the deal in Jacksonville.

Wake 28 - GT 24

i disagree..see their results.

they beat duke by 1 point, unc by 7, nc state by 2 just like us, lost to clemson, like us, and got bitch slapped by va tech, who WE bitch slapped.
i just don't see the edge you think is there...i think they're good, but does their won/loss record give them that much of an advantage over us?
i don't see any advantage myself.
except they have a QB.

I just can't decide on this game. My prediction:

Tech 10 - Wake 10 - at the end of regulation.

Winner of this game is the team that goes second in overtime and hits a field goal on their fourth play.

Earlier in the year we occasionally threw to the TE. We occasionally threw to the FB.
Go back and watch Reggie's first INT. It was a pass to the FB in the flats, on a rollout, batted up into the air by a DE and picked by a LB. Matter of fact, wasn't it a LB who got both their pics? Oh, and btw, that pic was probably the best actual read Reggie made the whole game - his receiver was open.

We occasionally threw over the middle.
Hello, first play of the game, into double coverage.

We ran QB draws that kept the safeties honest.
Hello, fumble for a TD.

Saturday we did not place any pass coverage responsibilities on Georgia's LBs.
Sure we did. Reggie just didn't throw it there.

The safeties could cheat to one side of the field on passing plays and not worry about the middle.
We had guys standing wide open in the middle of the endzone that Reggie didn't throw it to. We had guys open in the middle on the rollout that Reggie didn't see for some reason. Reggie didn't check past his first WR option the whole game, and sometimes didn't even get that far, opting instead to scramble 10 yards backwards and get creamed. Our offensive system for UGA was the same system we've used all year. Different wrinkles, same system. Poor execution lead to different results.

You're imagining things if you think that Gailey somehow took over the play calling for this game and changed our schemes back to previous years. Hell, I wish he had - more I form runs might have won us the game.

GT 28, Wake 17

Reggie gets 100 yards rushing, just to spite the haters.

You're imagining things if you think that I said that Gailey took over the playcalling.

You're also imagining things if you don't think that Gailey has an influence on the playcalling and scheme.

You're also imagining things if you don't acknowledge that the passing game has become more conservative and less productive later in the season, and the Georgia Game was the pinnacle. We were 60-something in the nation in passing offense at mid season, and we are now at 97.

You're imagining things if you believe that the reduced productivity in passing is solely because Reggie had a bad game.

You're imagining things if you believe (as you apparently do) that you can beat a quality opponent by lining up and running the ball down their throats. Hello to you--it's not 1980 and the pitch toss sweep offense is dead.

You're not imaging things if you see that the poor execution is fueled in part by a scheme that makes the QB position harder.

I could keep going, but since you didn't completely read my first post, I am wasting my time. Pearls before swine.

Hey guys, this is a prediction thread. Take your argument to the fifteen other Gailey's fault/not Gailey's fault threads.

Reggie is worth 7 to the other team. Defense will give up a touchdown and FG. TC should tear it up though.

20-17 Georgia Tech.
