but if we continue to play without fire I want Spurrier, or Beamer, or Butch Davis NO MATTER the cost. We deserve better.

This is kinda silly to talk about since we have a fine head coach. I am even willing to go out on a limb and predict that he stays at GT for five years or more and wins an ACC title in that time.

But I am bothered by one thing...

The interesting thing about Spurrier, (and I am a huge Spurrier fan) is he did not have a very good record against FSU while coaching at a school that has recruiting advantages over GT.

How is he going to do better if he was here?

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">If we fired him now, we would barely be able to get an interview with a decent coach. No one in his right mind would want to coach at a place that gets rid of people in their first year, particularly with all the injuries.

Also, you can forget about Beamer, Spurrier or Davis. It took Beamer 6 years to turn around the VT program. It took Davis about 5 years to do the same in Miami (operating under heavy scholarship sanctions).

To be honest, our injuries are the equivalent of heavy scholarship sanctions. We're without TH, GG, Fox...and now probably Dorsey, Hester and Smith. These aren't just run of the mill players. These are some of our greatest contributors.

Like you, I want to see some fire out there. It was definitely lacking in the 2nd half of MD. I also want to see a good offensive game plan that takes advantage of the remaining talent we have. I'd also like to see us get a 4th down call right for a change. But I don't want to see us run CG out of town this quick. He deserves more time to get his own players in place and his own system.

I have a feeling that BOB will be gone after this season (just as he would have gone were it not for the resume-gate). With him gone, our last tie to the Fridge is gone. Fridge can run his own offense, but I don't think BOB can. He's just not experience enough and he may never be as good as Fridge. That's not an insult to BOB. Honestly, outside of Spurrier, I don't think there's a better offensive mind in football than the Fridge.

Without BOB, we'll find out what kind of an offensive mind Gailey has next year. While they're at it, I hope they get a QB coach.

Like I said I hope he is successful here. That means beating ugag (the pansy acc will take care of itself after that). If he is successful here I hope he stays forever. As to Spurrier's record vs f$u, who gives a d@#m? Look at his record vs. ugag, that is what matters if you bleed Gold.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Well, we've beaten UGA 7 times since we joined the ACC. We beat them in 84,85,89,90,98,99 and 00. Out of those 7 times, we've won 1 outright ACC title and 1 shared title (in '98) with FSU. Beating UGA guarantees us nothing in the ACC. Usually, there are a few teams in the ACC that are better than UGA (maybe not this year, but usually).

I hope you don't misinterpret what I'm saying. I want to beat UGA more than anyone on our schedule. But I think this program is at a point where we don't need to define our season based on the UGA game. Only by winning the ACC do we get to the BCS.

I hope that Chan gets us to the point where we win our conference...and beats UGA.

I guess what I am trying to point out unsuccessfully is we have zero reason to believe Spurrier would beat FSu if he was at GT.

You make a great point about playing uGA however. Since nobody enjoys beating uGA more than Steve you gotta like our chances there.

I would like to think if we had to replace Gailey we could find a coach that could beat uGA and FSu.

Jacket Dude, Dorsey has an injured shoulder and he is listed as questionable for the Virginia game. Hope this helps.

Well, I guess I was correct the 1st time. I thought I read it somewhere but couldn't find my original source. Oh well. Just more disaster for this team. Never ever ever have I seen a Tech team get obliterated with injuries like this.
