Here is the link to the great catch by Calvin Johnson vs. NC State...Just thought it would bring back good memories (at least up until that point in the game)...
IT'S SIMPLE: THE MAN IS A SPECIAL & TALENTED ATHLETE

(you have to love the commentators comments during this clip) Enjoy fellows & I hope that #21 has pleanty more highlights from ND game 2006!

Can only hope he will come back for his senior year but it's more like a 1 in a million shot that he won't leave for the NFL after this year!!! Either way no hard feelings here just glad that he chose to play his college years here in the FLATS in WHITE/GOLD....HERE'S to #21 & to another special year.... MAKE US PROUD CALVIN FOR HEISMAN!!!

After watching the video it reaffirmed my thoughts no question he's the best.

He's the best, but he'd be a whole lot better if he had a QB throwing to him with at least a 50% completion ratio and a better than 1:1 TD to Interception ratio. Oh how his talent is wasted. Sorry to sound so negative, I just hate seeing Reggie miss his mark on most of his passes to Calvin. I have never seen such hands in my life.

MaconBacon (remember them) You said what I wanted to say but I thought some lame brain would jump in saying how negative I am. You are correct CJ if he had say a Billy Lothridge throwing to him would not only be all American but all World/Universe.

Well think about it...how many catches does calvin make in stride? Hardly any. The reason Calvin makes so many miraculous catches is because of the poor quality of passes he gets. Again, not being negative or bashing Reggie, I doubt anybody on here will try to argue that Reggie is a great QB, or even a good one, I'm just saying Calvin is so good that even with the worst starting QB in any bowl game last year (statistical fact) he still puts up the numbers, just think what he would do with even a mediocre QB!

Can't wait to see him in the pro's. I think he'll be a lot like Chad Johnson, but without all the show boating..he's a really classy and humble guy which makes me like him even more.

Reggie makes some great plays, but usually because of his instincts and athleticism, not his accurate arm.

Of all the QB's we've had recently, I would have liked to see Godsey throwing to Calvin. He put the ball where it needed to be. I believe he would have made Calvin a better receiver, running more precise routes at greater speed with confidence the ball will be there. Without that confidence you run slower routes, preparing to reach back, jump up, stoop low, etc.

I entirely agree (except that his talent is being "wasted"...underutilized is more accurate) however, quarterbacks, like Presidents, get too much credit when things are good, and too much blame when things are bad.

Reggie certainly has room to improve, but it's simply wrong to lay all the blame on his shoulders. Other significant contributing factors for the poor QB statistics are the play of the offensive line, poor routes run by the receivers (including CJ!), and the lack of a clear #2 receiver to take pressure off of CJ.

Since the other receivers have not been proven to be a threat, CJ is always double and triple covered. Many times what appears to be a poorly throw ball, is one thrown to avoid interception.

No question Reggie needs to improve his decision making, receiver progression and accuracy, but for him to do so, the line play must also improve and receivers need to improve their routes.

As QB Reggie gets the brunt of the criticism, however it's a team game and saying it's all his fault and he's "not a D1 QB" is simply not true.

PS - the coaching has some cultibility in QB performance as well!

Re: Watch it again & again: #21 vs. NC State: Amaz

GTL, You make some good points especially the one about other receivers stepping up. Hopefully we have some that will decide they want to get into the action a little.

It's very easy to blame Reggie but I won't. Am I happy? No but it is a team game and until every single person does their job mistakes will be made.

I do hate however that Reggie has to read on here some of this stuff but hopefully he is a big boy and can show us in the end.

I don't know why everybody gets so worked up about Calvin anyway. He's good, but he's not 'that' good.

Just kidding...

I'll bet he gets a good laugh out of some of what's posted!

I'm sure he does, it does however get frustrating as a fan to read some of the comments.

Dang tootin' it does!

Have a great weekend, 'mover!

Re: Watch it again & again: #21 vs. NC State: Amaz

Good point, GW gets blamed for everything, while in my opinion it's just the times we live in and that holds true for Reggie as well. I'll give it to the guy, he's got the will to win in him and gives 110% And I hope he doesn't read the message boards as I would imagine most of what he reads would be negative, maybe he uses it as inspiration. I Hope his last year is his best! Especially for Calvin!

Re: Watch it again & again: #21 vs. NC State: Amaz

I am glad to see the RB debate still raging. We all believe he is a great kid that lays it on the line for Tech every weekend or occasional Thursday.

My hope for Reggie this year is to continue to cut down on his interceptions, but instead of playing pitch and catch with the hot dog vendors, he will throw it accurately to the open receiver.

Props for #21

More & More pre-season awards and all-american nominations keep piling up for Calvin. I hope for his sake that this year is his BEST yet. I would love to see him break the WR records at GT & have on Heck of a junior year....as we will probably not get to see him on the flats for a Senior
year...Best of luck to you Calvin & may we send you out in style....Make us proud & I hope that Nix, OL, & Ball will do their part to make this a good one for you as well....
#21 I say they will retire his number if he leaves as a junior & rightly so...I say that it should be retired? any thoughts?

Not unless he graduates after his junior year. Absolutely nothing against Calvin, but some things are important.
Now, after he leaves and comes back to finish up, his jersey number should be raised at BD immediately if he finishes up the '06 season the way he can.

Same thing goes for Joe.
