watched the \'01 FSU vs. UNC on espn classic

you have got to love what Tenuta did that FSU team. He shut down that team and he had Rix completely befuddled.

Tenuta is probably the best D coordinator we have had a GT in the past 20 years. Only time will tell but if our D can REALLY step up and we can just average 20+ points a game then this could be a great year.

Our D should be the best in the ACC with the talent they have coming back.

While Tenuta has me excited that our defense can be better than mediocre, a bit of caution watching UNC vs. F$U last year. First, UNC had 2 Top 6 picks playing on the d-line and also had lots of experience in the linebacking core as well as the secondary. Also, one of those Top 6, Sims, is the holy grail of college football--a 300 lb., athletic DT that can collapse the pocket and command a double team every play. Plus, you had F$U playing their first big road game w/Rix; Rix wasn't used to having an opponent step up and "punch back." Frankly, F$U wasn't that used to it either; especially from UNC who has been noted over the years as a "soft" team.

Again, if anything, I hope that Tenuta's coaching shows up in improvement for our secondary--they haven't been coached well since Edsall. Tenuta should place our defense in a much better position to succeed (not just in the 1st quarter) as well as do a better job of adjustments and disguising our blitzing scheme. However, if our DT's don't step up, then it will be tough to improve drastically.

Let's hope Tenuta can throw some of that magic on the Clemson Tigers, our first big test of the year.
