Watching TECH games

I'm very excited about our upcoming Georgia Tech football and basketball seasons. I had hoped that the ACC Network would be a way for me to watch all the games (I am in Chattanooga, older/retired, LIMITED mobilty).

Unfortunately there does not seem to be simple solution to this situation. I am not adverse to subscribing to a pay service, but it seems the options are complicated, and expensive.

I am internet only with antenna local tv. Even with ESPN, ESPN÷ I was often finding home games blacked out in Chattanooga. It will show the game and time but no mention of blackout, just a message at game time that it is backed out.

I tried VPN to no avail.

I have seen some discussion regarding Bally and regional game coverage.

I would really appreciate your input on what works for you.

I know there are usually game day posts. Sometimes people post where they are viewing the games.

Sports for me is GA Tech football and basketball.

I am hoping to see traditional WELL coached GA Tech teams that represent our history of fielding competitive teams.

I good spot to watch games (it's online streaming) that you want to watch aside from our Jackets is sportsurge.net.

They have all sorts of streams for almost any college or NFL game going on, as well as other sports. I have seen Tech on there as well before when browsing.

I'll be down here in St. Thomas keeping the Tech game on in the local bars.

The problem I see with The CW carrying games is that they are primarily an "entertainment" network with scores of mostly stupid game shows and a few pretty good series. I don't see them carrying any basketball games during the week, and no more than 2 football games on a given Saturday. Maybe they have created a separate CW sports channel, but I haven't seen any indication of that, unless I just missed it. For all its perceived flaws (I say perceived, because I never had any problems with them), Bally at least was more-or-less dedicated to college sports.

I have used YouTubeTV the last few seasons with mostly success except a few games that were blacked out. Given the latest with CW, I would expect that all Tech games being broadcast on any network will be carried by YouTubeTV.

In the cases of blackouts, I have often found the game being live-streamed on plain old YouTube by some helpful Youtuber. Searching for the two opponent team names and the word "live" usually produces something. But this has been cracked down on pretty hard by YouTube and is an option of last resort and may not be an option at all this season.

I intend to have a YouTubeTV subscription for college football season. It's easy to activate and easy to cancel when the season is over. It is my hope and expectation that all Tech games that are being televised by any network will be shown on YouTubeTV.

Winning helps. If we beat Louisville to start the season and can string together some early wins, it will go a long way to improving our pecking order on TV and better our chances of getting more accessible broadcasts.

Hope that helps.

Still bottles the mind how many of you tech bros still have trouble finding a free live stream of ANY sporting event worldwide, let alone major college football games. YJ4L gave one such example above, which gives me hope. Sort of.. Learn to internet, nerds.

I can second sportssurge if you're desperate. It's always worked for me but there's a hassle to it and some of the time there is bandwith problems and you have to keep futzing with it so you might want to get in some practice. But it's better than nothing. Personally, I'm still wondering if CW's going to have a new afilliate up in the area in time for the season. The local ch69 drops it's affiliation 8/31 and there's not another replacement on the table.

same here, internet only with antenna. last season I did a sling account for the espn affiliated games. For espn blackout games, it was usually because of "regional sports network" coverage aka Bally Sports, so I actually got a separate Bally's account (no Bally's option on Sling). caught all the games this way. a little bit of hassle, but was a little cheaper than full blown cable package, plus was all contract free, so was able to cancel after the season was over. With CW taking over, might be easier this season as it should be included on package with espn without having to get separate RSN account. I've tried finding pirated games on standard youtube as some have mentioned, but led to mostly spam links. I have found games on youtube, but didn't work more times than it did.
