We are ranked #24 in AP; #31 in Coach Poll**

Well, one thing's for sure. We won't be ranked #24 after next week.
Will either be 18ish, or back to the small print.

Our time in the polls the last few years is like the fat woman who feels real proud of herself for losing 14 pounds in the last 3 months, only to go on a seven day cruise and put on 20.

Personally, I will not recognize our spot in the AP until Saturday evening.

Great quote about the fat woman. However, I could replace her in the analogy.

I don't like the fact that we entered the top 25 by beating a Duke-esque team. The AP is just putting us up there so ABC's 3:30pm game gets some cache. I hope our fans and team realize this.

If we win, our team deserves to be ranked around 20. We don't deserve #24 now, although I am optimistic and hopeful about this weekend's game.

I am confident we will be ranked at the end of the regular season...we will see about next week.
 
Very odd that there is such a delta in the 2 ratings.It is as large a divergence as I have EVER seen on a team.Anybody see this before?

Actually, I would have thought ESPN would have had us higher ranked than the AP if either one would.
The farthest fetched thing I can come up with is, to support GT is to support ND, and the AP loves ND.

Again, this is a one week high 20s ranking anyway. One way or another we will move many spots. Now, that will be one heckuva delta!
 
I personally think the coach's poll operates much more on a straight "win you stay, lose you go down" approach, as most coach's can't really follow team's other than their own on Saturday.

This year, I don't think many the coach's realize the nature of our game with ND and they just drop us down because of one loss.
 
I've read interviews with some coaches that say they don't bother actually filling out the poll themselves until the end of the year - until then they give it to underlings because they're too busy.

It doesn't help either when our coach is not on the Coaches poll.

Ratings are always better when two ranked teams play.
 
Anyone else notice we got dropped from the Harris poll? We win a game and still get dropped three spots to 27! It may take back to back 10-win seasons for use to be consistantly ranked. After this weekend, all this talk is moot. They can't deny us a ranking WHEN we win

Well, we really haven't beaten anyone. So I can see why that would happen. Same thing happened in the ESPN and AP after we beat Troy I believe.
 
No one has technically been dropped from the Harris poll yet because this is the first week the poll has been taken this season....
 
Are comparing it to the last Harris poll of last year? I would guess we would be about 24 in that poll.

I hate it when people don't update their websites!! I was referring to the poll on FoxSports.com which was displayed next to THIS YEAR'S coaches/AP polls. I'm sticking to ESPN from now on.

Ok, I'm not as frustrated now.
 
Besides, don't assume there's any logic in the Harris poll. It's the one of the dumbest things ever conceived. Most of the voters have no clue what they're doing.

And doesn't ABC follow the Coach's poll? The AP is hyping this for ABC yet we won't be shown as a top 25 team. Am I right on this?
