We can and possibly should beat FSU...

Top to bottom, FSU probably still has more talent than we do. But it's a team game and their team is imploding while our team is starting to come together.

2 things need to happen for us to win, IMO:
1) We must win the turnover battle
2) We mustn't panic when something goes wrong, like a penalty or a bad punt or something.

If our guys (who will be absolutely sky high for this) keep their composure, and play a smart football game, we can win. Often, you see a team have a huge upset on the road, only to get spanked at home the next week. I hope we don't spend all week patting ourselves on the back.

Offensively, we need for Clinkscale to continue making plays. Plus, I hope our coaching staff calls his number alot. Since the beginning of the MD game, he's been our best playmaker in the backfield. Watkins needs to continue playing well and the other receivers can't have a case of the dropsies.

I hope that our linebackers are ready to make some hits. We'll need 'em. Maybe we can rattle their new QB and put the clamps on Maddox. Jones being out will really help our chances.

We're in a position to have a really good year. We just need to seize the moment.

Caught part of an interview at lunch on 790 w/Suggs. I liked his attitude and demeanor. Said that the team is fully aware that they can still have a great season.

I think the key is containing Maddox. IF GT is able to stop the run like the last few weeks, we should be in a position to win in the 4th quarter. This is doable, but tough; FSU's o-line is the best that we will see all year. Substitution on the d-line will be key to keep guys fresh in the 4th quarter.

A good point that a friend brought up regarding our team's mindset for Sat.: The group of seniors that we have are used to tight games w/FSU (looking at the scores of the '99, '00 and '01 games). I think that they fully believe that they can win Sat., not just make a good showing. I think we have a great shot...

We CAN and (not possibly) SHOULD beat FSU.
I am not sure why any TECH fan would think that we shouldn't beat FSU.
We have an experienced, talented team. We have had more than our share of injuries but these have been replaced by talented depth (thanks again Coach O'leary).
AJ Suggs is playing well and Chan Gailey has (at least partially) came out of his early season coma. Players like Watkins, Clinkscale, Muyers, Smith, Collins, etc. are leading this team to great things....overcoming the terrible transitional coaching learning curve.
It is mindbogling how so many TECH fans have lowered their expectations for this team. This team expects to win. WE should EXPECT them to win. And we should hold this mediocre staff's feet to the fire to overcome their inabilities and get the job done now.
The future is now. We lose a lot of seniors this year and with the slow start this staff has had in recruiting (imagine that...this staff starting slow), who knows what the future will bring.
Go Jackets....seize the moment.....convict the CRIMInoles.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Beeware.. please lay off that crack pipe for a while...

you once asked me "Are you really an idiot or do you just play one on here???" .. now I am asking you the same... Do the linky

It just really sticks in your craw that this staff and team are getting past the obstacles this season has presented isnt it?

I do agree with you on one thing though... we should EXPECT to beast FSU... I like that attitude

Lets make BW happy! Lets tell CG to go for 2 points so that we can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Then he will be CG fan for life. Yes I think he is an idiot! He doesn't have to play one.

Maybe Beeware, it is because we have LOST 10 in a row to this team. The great George O'Leary NEVER beat FSU his entire tenure here. I loved GO and appreciate what he did for GT as much as anyone on this board. I was very vocal in my support for him.

But, to lay YOUR expectations on this staff in their first year to accomplish something that has not been done since the 1970's is beyond me.

Have I lowered my expectations? NO.

Have you raised yours (from the previous staff)? It sure sounds like it.

Let me ask you a question. Why do you put such a huge burden on a new coach that is still installing his system when your own choices for coach didn't ever help accomplish what you are expecting CCG to do the entire time they coached here? Is this reasonable?

Here's the meter on this one:
