We have a committ

Welcome aboard. Getting this new year started right! What high school, Collins Hill, Peachtree Ridge, or North Gwinnett?

Collins Hill. I went to that school (currently sophomore at Tech) and he was pretty much the main reason Collins Hill was any good this year.

Probably will be the #2 back in the state behind Mack Brown(who is also on our list).

Watched the youtube. Looks like a keeper.

Definitely.

I wanted to bump this up to make a few additional comments about Charles, as I've watched him for 3 years now...

He is a fine young man with a great work ethic. This past season was the first under a new head coach, where the previous two had been under a very antiquated, 'tween the tackles offense with no creativity. This year, he accomplished much with a very undersized O line.

I am not 100% sure on this, but it is my understanding that he will enroll early, and be in school next January...

yes...he is saying he will enroll early which is great. I am pumped about getting Charles Perkins on board.

oh that's really good news! he's a homerun...lightening fast first step! woohoo

Perkins could end up being an A-back or a B-back. Notice he lines up at WR and is extremely effective. In projections of our 2010 board right now he's listed as an A-back although he has obvious power. I also think I remember reading the staff likes guys who could end up in either position.

It appears like we may have more size & power at A-back than was generally the case at Navy. PJ has said Allen will definitely be cross-trained at A & B as many expected. Then there's Orwin Smith who has good size, and Jemea Thomas (who will start on D, but whom the staff is also interested in at A-back). Lockhardt is not tiny either.

I think there will always be a place for the super gnat at the position who's willing to block, has field streching speed, and is tough in space (Jones, Wright, Peeples).

PJ did like running the rocket pitch to Cox in short yardage situations, and I think there are definite applications for larger A backs.

At the same time we are stockpiling some big, powerful B-backs behind Dwyer: Watson, Cox (PJ has said he'll likely be a B-back this year), & Drummond.

God damn I am jonesing for some GT football... I need to try and keep my expectations in check but I believe we will be a sleeping giant come this fall. :fingersx:

Eltechelero: I wouldn't put Roddy in the "gnat" category. He's about 5'10" 200 lbs. That's much bigger than Marcus Wright (5'8" 175) and Embry Peeples (5'10" 175-80).

He runs with power, too.

Other than that, I completely agree. Guys like Allen and Cox at A-back are not the norm. But it works.

Orwin Smith, right now, is a little thin, but he is tall and has the frame to pack on some weight (he's about Dwyer's size out of HS). I could see him playing B-back at some point.
