Ok, so I've been watching highlights from last year. I'm ready for some action! I keep seeing Searcy at the end of big plays. Watch these two links below. He's everywhere downfield blocking. Fantastic!!!

I don't have the skills (or the time) but one of you savvy folks with both should do us all a favor and put together a Qua Seracy package with his big offensive plays but also highlight his blocks and down the field work. Dude is out there hustling!

If the offense gets cooking and working like it's supposed to, I expect bigger things from him. Both his rushing attempts and catches were down last year significantly. He is a weapon; Lynch too.

This was more a function of Tevin Jr. not being able to make reads and pitch the ball.

Wut? Tevin was a Savant, a Maestro, a Kung Fu master in option football. That being said, I agree that Marshall's incomplete grasp of the offense limited the production of our backs big time. I just wasn't going to throw shade in a generally positive thread.

Don't speak ill of Tevin. He made more correct reads than even JT5. He just didnt have the speed or power to execute or the arm to reach. Taquan has 80% the athleticism of JT5, but 20% of the decision making. Which makes him a bad quarterback. I expect him to be slightly better this year, but we'll see if he'll be good enough to move the ball against uga or clemson. That's why I'm hoping for a miracle to happen and someone massively qualified to beat him out for the job.

True statement. Hard to give Qua love when we can’t even give him the ball.

Ok, any numbers on TQM reads versus other QBs. The 2017 offense had a 23rd rank FEI. TQM reads were fine. The defense forced him to keep the ball. In general I agree his reads may be just behind Tevin and JT, but he was good and it was his first year at QB... for real, his very first year as he started as an AB and then spent a year injured.

If you want to see improvement from TQM, it is in the passing game.

My perception was that AB production was down last year, and historically it seems like we get a lot of our biggest plays by pitching and passing to ABs. I think a lot of people assume that if the QB carries the ball more often than he hands off to the BB or pitches, then he must be missing reads or is trying to carry the offense alone. But if defenses are prioritizing the BB and the AB, it makes sense that the QB will end up with a lot of carries. If that strategy works for opponents, we should expect to see more of it, and it might take a toll on the QB over the course of the season, especially since we typically play only one QB but several other ball carriers. It certainly seemed like our offense was less effective in the second half of the season, even though TQM didn't appear to be injured. I guess the most likely explanation for lack of AB production would be a combination of defenses covering the ABs on option plays, and CPJ calling fewer of the plays that would get the ball in their hands.

Csb. My brother works with a girl who went to elementary school with Qua. Said he was in BD class. Now I always think about the bad ass kids at Jessie Rice elementary and Qua Searcy.

Love me some Qua; however, If I'm being brutally honest after watching the highlight videos, I just don't think TM has what it takes to lead us to a "special" season.

I don't know that anyone but the coaching staff has numbers on any of the QBs correct reads.

However, I noticed LOTS of times where Marshall could/should have pitched the ball and chose to keep it and make a play with his feet.

I think he's definitely behind JT5 and even JT was behind Tevin.

If Marshall can improve his reads in all phases it will definitely help us out.
