I have been a season ticket holder/fan for 28 years and love GTech teams and have always supported them through thick and thin! I will continue to support the players that choose to come here and play for the jackets and be in the stands always. But, I have always reserved the right to not support coaches who can't get the job done! I did it early on this season, like a lot of us diehards did because we saw defining coaching errors and defiencies. We all saw it and commented.

You are only as good as your Head Coach because he's the ultimate decision maker! His decision making for hiring the coaches, for management of the game, for preparing coaches and players gets a FLAT F for the entire season! You can all tell me I not a fan, only a fan would be crying now and that's what we are all doing for our players and the program.

This was a bad hire and my feelings right now are ONLY FOR OUR TEAM! They came here under the guise of a program well established by Coach O'Leary, who by the way left us with players to keep it going and a program known by a lot of young high schoolers throughout this country.

Now it's up to this Athletic Dept. to make some sincere, strong moves for the benefit of this progam, the players and the fans. Admit your mistake and remember those it has affected and make it right now! Don't wait to see what he can do ... we've seen and enough of that already.

I don't care about the Ugag fans and having bragging rights for another year, I care about our players, our program and our fans who do care. Listen to us who just sit in the stands and support you ALL THE TIME!

I agree about HC, but now it would be hard to get a qualified coach to come here if we fire him after one yr. He has not quite caught on to the college game and what it is all about and his recruiting reflects that. If this continues, it won't be long before he will be gone.

Bizzy, for over $900,000 per yr & other perks, you can get a LOT of quality coaches to come here-or anywhere else.

What about friggin clough? He did not let DB hire who he wanted to. And for 900,000 per, you can hire a heck of a good coach, if that is, CG does not do the things necessary NOW.

Mstechanalysis, agree we have just seen an extremely poor coaching job with a team full of talent. Last year's team and this year's team had the most athletic talent I have ever seen at GT, and that includes the Bobby Dodd years.

Tech is a school with a valued football history and it would have absolutely no trouble getting extremely qualified candidates to coach here.

Even though I think Gailey did a horrible job with this team, he deserves one more year. I am convinced there is dissention among some of the players and the coaches. It would not be fair to run off the head coach after one year if the problem was due to an assistant. That would fall directly into the plans of the dissatisfied assistant and the dissatisfied players.

The best solution is to fire the assistant or assistants and let Gailey have one more year with his full selected staff. All of the staff would be in the coaches corner, and any players that wanted to leave could be invited to find another home. With all the definitions in place for the next year, it would be up to the head coach to show marked improvement.

If the head coach was let go and the assistant retained, it would make those players and assistant that have done wrong be rewarded for their wrong efforts.

After next year, the problem, solution, or both would be clearly defined.

Ahsoisee,

I look forward to reading your posts because they are thoughtful and informed. Dave Braine is a very intelligent man, the proof is in Hewitt. For some reason that escapes me, he violated a cornerstone leadership principle in saddling Gailey with baggage. They must go now-even before the bowl-because the new recruits are watching.

As much I hate to say that one more year is necessary, I agree with ahsoisee.

Before today’s game I would have said 100%, CG needs another year to get settled in with his own staff. But after losing to UGA by the highest score in history, the HC should resign. If he won't fire him. The bizarre play calling, the failure to let backup quarterbacks get any playtime earlier in the season until the second half of the UGA game rest squarely on Chan's shoulders. Can't blame in on BOB or any one else by the 12th game.

This disaster is Chan’s and he must take the medicine for it.

As someone older than CG, it pains me to say Div I-A coaching (at the top 10 anyway) is a young man’s game. Not a game to learn for someone who is 50 and has never coached at this level before. Thanks to this year, most of us have learned that the pro game requirements are not the same as college Div 1-A. Just isn’t the same game.

Pay the 1.5M or what ever it takes and get a young, high potential coach and let him have a free reign with the staff.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">The stupidest thing that clough has done is:
1.) Pay a coach close to 1M per year.
2.) Spend 70M on a stadium renovation.
3.) Raise our academic standards to ensure that 1 and 2 above will be a complete waste of money.
4.) Lie about it.

Thank you 71Bee! Have appreciated your insight and believe you know of what you speak! This was the worst I've seen and it didn't take brain ignorance to realize it was building during the course of the season.
