we travel poorly in years in which we lose to UGA

The Georgia game was everything. Win it and bowls would be excited to have a team coming off back to back wins over Top 15 teams.

Lose it and they were going to ship us off to Moscow if they could.

Our fan base has never traveled well in years involving a loss to Georgia.

We continually win 6 or 7 and don't beat UGA, I don't understand some of us are continually baffled to see us play outside of the Southeast. I've been telling my friends all week that this was going to happen.

"Our fan base has never traveled well in years involving a loss to Georgia."

Where is your rationale for this reasoning??

We have only been to one bowl in the past 8 seasons following a loss to Georgia that was in the southeast that Tech folks could actually travel to, and it was the Champs Bowl.

There were easily 20-25,000 Tech fans at a game that was played on a TUESDAY on the night before Christmas Eve.

You may have perception, but our showing at the Champs Bowl seems to say differently.

Unless you really think that Seattle, Boise, and Silicon Valley ticket sales are representative of how well GT would show in Charlotte or Nashville.

I think that's his point...if we beat Ugag, we have a better chance of playing near home.

Flunkout is right:

we made an EXCELLENT show in Orlando last year, esp. considering the timing of the game.

You raise a good point.

The last 3 wins over uga have produced The gator, The Peach, and I'm drawing a blank on the other one.

The best since then has been the Champs, and we back doored into that one.

So, its either beat uga or win our division. Otherwise its off to oblivion. At least, that's how its worked out since 2000.

Although I also agree that your opinion about us traveling poorly is dead wrong and unjustified, I do tend to agree with your sentiments.

I have argued to move the UGA game up and here's another reason why. If we lost to Wake Forest I don't think it'd affect our fans interest. We'd all look at our record for the year.

But by losing to our rival at the end, it does tend to knock off some of the fun. Now having said that, this year was different and it was the job of the ACC and our AD to sell us as much.

Our fan base was still very energized this December. I knew nobody that didn't want to see this team in a good game again. We would have travelled this year in swarms.

I think that's what has everyone so upset. The Bowls didn't read us and/or we weren't sold very well. It is clear that we will never go to the Charlotte bowl in the future.
