I've been trying to do some research about jax state and really couldn't come up with much. they return 6 starters on offense and defense from a 6-5 season. They have a preseason all-conference LB and return specalist. They gave up 20 sacks last year and scored 27 points per game. they did not play any 1-A (FBS) opponents. and they have a dude named perrilloux.

i don't think it will be a close game, but i do have concerns about our ability to run our new offense efficiently and am scared to death of fumbles.

I'm wondering how their O-Line is. i think if there is a key to this game it will be their O-line. I know perrilloux's playmaking ability, but that can be cut down significantly with our d-line in the backfield.

my main question: who is their o-line, what year are they and are they returning starters

What do I know ? We are going to beat the crap out of them !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm going off memory here - but I think Perriloux replaced a D1AA Perriloux who also got in trouble and was kicked off the team. They were without a sccholarship QB, IIRC.

That coach won the conference a few years back, and then started doing a respectable but not impressive W/L recrod after that guy left. Once again - I'm going off memory.

They just don't have the talent we do outside of a QB. Most teams like that have one or two guys at some other position with guys that slipped past the D1A ranks also. Even Presbyterian College where I went always had 'somebody' that should have been at a higher level of football and usually a 'few' somebodies, so Jax St will also.

I'd expect them pumped and playing above their level for a short period of time, and when we start subbing players on their tired starters, to rapidly deteriorate. I'd expect Perriloux to impress a few times, but to later get frustrated with his lack of protection, leading to less production as the game wears on.

We have talent enough that we should be able to play a very basic play book and simply blow them off the ball. If the play book is not irrelevant, then we we have big problems. The fact that we probably will use our new playbook will probably help them more than hurt them while we work out the kinks. If the new playbook becomes any issue at all, we just scrap it and line up in an I and blow them off the ball with basic athleticism and strength.

I'd expect us to run base packages and get comfortable with it against live fire. I'd also expect us to take the game seriously. All their guys were the best, or one of the bast players in their high school and can all run, catch, and tackle. They are all big fast, agile, and strong. They are all athletes. It's like some fans all of a sudden forget that some of their guys are 'also' benching 350 and 400. They are still great athletes, even if not as fast and strong as our own athletes.

People forget that all these guys will run to the end zone when nobody tackles them and will tackle a guy when nobody blocks them. A high school team will run, catch, and tackle if nobody gets in their way. I'm amazed how many people forget that part.

We just need to take the game seriously, which we will. We still have to get out there and play.

Perriloux should make a few impressive plays here and there, but overall, we should be fine. If we are not, then we have a serious lack of motivation, which I don't see PJ putting up with.

When you have a real quarterback, and can teach OL pass blocking, and are playing against a very young defensive backfield, anything can happen. We better be ready.

Our 1st real game is against BC.

Do they still have those big run-stuffers in the middle?
